I've been asked to review and provide thoughts on the question of a potential targeting call in the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Football / UMHB Football🏈 #d3fb game Saturday. I have synced up two videos -- one from UMHB's broadcast and one posted by In The (D3FB) Huddle contributor Riley Conlee (Riley Conlee) (if he could provide credit to the videographer of it, I'd appreciate it). There is a full-speed view and a 20% speed view of the central action included in the video. To evaluate targeting, we have to review both aspects of the rule to see what, if anything, qualifies. I want to provide the entire set of rules (9-1-3 & 9-1-4): "Targeting and Making Forcible Contact With the Crown of the Helmet ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet. The crown of the helmet is the top segment of the helmet; namely, the circular area defined by a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6) (A.R. 9-1-3-I) Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI) Note 1: “Targeting” means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to: - Launch. A player leaving their feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area. - A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground. - Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area. - Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet. Note 2: Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14). When in question, a player is defenseless. Examples of defenseless players include but are not limited to: - A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass. This includes an offensive player in a passing posture with focus downfield. - A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect themselves or has not clearly become a ball carrier. - A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return. - A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect themselves or has not clearly become a ball carrier. - A player on the ground. - A player obviously out of the play. - A player who receives a blind-side block. - A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped. - A quarterback any time after a change of possession - A ball carrier who has obviously given themselves up and is sliding feet- first. - A player attempting to recover a loose ball." We need to start at Note 2 to see if Kyle Brown qualified here as a "defenseless player." If not, then 9-1-4 would not apply to him here. Kyle was not a receiver or a passer per se here -- he was clearly a runner downfield and was not in the grasp of any player. As a result, he was not "defenseless" by definition. That means that the only way targeting can be called here is if the provisions of Rule 9-1-3 were violated. Rule 9-1-3 is VERY specific about the initial requirement before we can go to the question of a required indicator: "No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet." The crown of the helmet is "the top segment of the helmet, specifically the circular area with a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet." In the videos, we see a couple of telling signs. First, Kyle appeared to actually lower HIS helmet as the contact became imminent, which is something coaches advise against for a variety of reasons, including self-preservation. But what is telling is that the UMHB defender attempted to peel off as he saw the angle of the contact he was heading toward with Brown. Specifically, he appeared to end up perpendicular to Brown, perhaps catching Brown's facemask enough to cause the helmet to fly. Yet, that contact was NOT with the defender's crown. As a result, since Brown was not defenseless by rule and because the crown of the helmet was not used for forcible contact to the head/neck area, the picking up of the flag by the officials was appropriate. That said, I spoke with an official who reviewed the videos without commentary and who landed in the same spot as I did concerning the above. They stated that if immediate replay review was available, crews will generally throw the flag and go to review (here, it likely would have been overturned by review, preserving the defender's eligibility). Since the ASC is not providing the on-field replay review yet, the officials' decision would have impacted the game by ejecting a player for the last 6 minutes of the first half until a Halftime review would have been available. For those wondering about how replay is impacting the game, I think this is a good reminder of the nuances it can impact.

A TRUST FUND FOR EVERYONE: How to create a Monetary Commons that socialises money and funds a basic dividend without new taxes or debt [At a time Donald Trump, Big Tech and Wall Street deploy stablecoins to privatise the dollar, usurping the decentralising power of blockchain to enrich themselves at everyone else’s expense, here is an alternative use of blockchain that harnesses its decentralising powers to benefit everyone equally – to pay everyone a substantial, non-inflationary, basic dividend – without the need to tax or borrow. Read on and/or watch the video] Here is an idea that can make a real, urgently needed, difference to our awfully divided, exploitative societies. Imagine a trust fund for everyone paying a personal dividend to each. Now imagine a common, a public digital platform, let’s call it a Monetary Commons, that harnesses our collective capacity to create the money needed to fund this personal dividend for all. The idea of a personal or basic income is not new, of course. People have sung its praises for decades. But they were stifled. The majority doesn’t want to pay higher taxes, or the higher interest rates more public debt would bring, to deliver a personal payment to others, including to the already stinking rich. But what if it is now possible to pay a decent personal dividend without new taxes or new public debt. How? First, because with MCPay you can send and receive money for free, avoiding the terrible, inexcusable, fees charged by private banks – even the ‘fuel fees’ of crypto. The second, even greater, benefit is that the money you keep in your MCPay grows at the central bank interest rate – which is always higher than the measly rate private banks pay for your savings. Free transactions and higher interest on your savings would be good enough reasons to have the MCPay app. But, the truly mesmerising, hugely exciting benefit is the third one: The new app makes it possible for the Central Bank to pay you, and everyone else, a substantial personal dividend. Pay attention to see where this money will come from, why it is not inflationary, why it requires no new taxes, no new debt and no magic: You have heard of how private banks create loans from thin air, right? How they can turn, on average, $3 of new deposits into a new $100 loan? [Yes, lest we forget, only 3% of the money in our advanced economies come from the central bank – the rest is conjured up by private banks.] But this works in reverse as well! If bankers turn $3 into $100, were you to transfer $3 from your normal bank to your MCPay, to take advantage of free transactions and the higher interest rate, you will have annulled your banker’s opportunity to create $100. In other words, as you transfer $3 from your bank to your new MCPay account, the total quantity of money in the economy would fall by, $100 minus $3, $97. Would this not be bad for the economy? It sure would be if nothing was done about it. But wait. Suppose the central bank were to create $97 for every $3 transferred to someone’s MCPay and credit that extra $97, equally, to everyone’s MCPay account. Bingo! Do you see now how a personal dividend was made possible without new taxes, new debt or potentially inflationary increases in the quantity of money? Now, please do not think that this a theoretical discussion. Yes, our governments, in the pockets of financiers as they are, are not interested in giving you the option of an MCPay app. But, with Donald Trump at the helm and his GENIUS Act on the statutes, they are busily handing over this incredible power to create money not to society, not to a Monetary Commons, but to Big Tech and Wall Street. How? By shunning the MCPay app that would benefit you, everyone, equally, and pushing instead for so-called stablecoins issued by privateers, mainly Big Tech and Wall Street, for their benefit. But how much money could we expect to receive as a personal dividend if we were to create a monetary commons? The answer is: a lot! The US Treasury recently predicted that around worth $6.6 trillion of US bank deposits will be transferred to stablecoins - the private version of MCPay from which you will benefit not at all. Yes, $6.6 trillion, that is more than six thousand billion dollars. If such a sum were to be transferred to the monetary commons, to our MCPay accounts, keeping the quantity of money in the US constant would require that the Fed credits $213 trillion to everyone’s MCPay accounts. That’s considerably more than $600 thousand for each woman, man and child resident in the US! And similarly in Britain, Europe, Japan etc. A sizeable trust fund for everyone. This is a remarkable opportunity for making a difference to our awfully divided societies. We must seize it. For the benefit of the many, not the few. Of course, the few – beginning with the bankers – will scream blue murder. They will do their utmost to stop this from happening. They will fearmonger like crazy, eager as they are to usurp the lion’s share of the money that society generates collectively. They will try to terrorise you with tales of calamities that will befall you if this Monetary Commons were to be created. They will prognosticate cataclysmic inflation – even though the whole point of the personal dividend is to keep the money supply constant. They will terrorise you with the prospect of new taxation and new public debt – even though they understand that there is no need for new taxes or new public debt to pay you a substantial personal dividend. To appeal to your social conscience, they will tell you that a Monetary Commons is Elon Musk’s and the libertarians’ way to dismantle social security – even though there is no reason to cut social security in any way to fund everyone’s personal dividend. They will bombard you with the spectre of Big Brother, likening the Monetary Commons to a Chinese Communist Party ploy to have the central bank follow your every transaction – even though they know that MCPay can easily be built on distributed ledger technology that guarantees privacy to each while preventing the authorities from manipulating the money supply without the public noticing. Today I'm excited to share Sigilum! This is Payman's solution for Auditable Identity for AI Agents. Security Making sure keys are secure and not just freely given to an AI Agent is a big deal. When working with money, you can't just expose these or skip putting controls in place. Sigilum provides a local gateway that prevents access to keys by the AI Agent without explicit authorization from a person. We provide namespaces through the service so you always know who authorized what key, for what service, to which agent. 2. Auditability If I could hit on the importance of this 100 times I would. With more audit logs being built through our managed service, this will be the key source for determining how an AI Agent is behaving on your behalf. This data leak was not a hack by any means; the selfie ID feature and driver's license images used to register users were stored unencrypted on the app's servers for anyone on the internet to see. Furthermore, the location data was not scrubbed from the images, so the exact GPS coordinate of each user was also leaked, with tens of thousands of users' private location data being leaked online. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: This app gained infamy as it's entire purpose is to serve as a "Yelp" for women to rate men, and to allow women to secretly share personal information regarding prospective dates, all without men being allowed to either face their accusers or even know that they are being gossiped about (thus the name of the app being a slang term that serves as a synonym for "gossip"). Most importantly, the app uses facial recognition to prevent biological males from obtaining an account. Beyond the unfortunate origins of the app and the equally unfortunate data leak, examination of the data that was leaked is likely to cause exceptionally grave risks to national security. The "gossipy" nature of this story doesn't matter, a bunch of unflattering selfies doesn't matter either; what does matter is that this may have inadvertently revealed significant national security concerns. For instance, preliminary analysis of the datasets indicates that many users of the Tea app downloaded the app, took a selfie, and registered for an account while at work. In some cases, at government facilities or on military bases...such as the rather unfortunate individual who decided it was a good idea to register for this app while stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Or the person who felt that they needed to use this app while on a gunnery range at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. So far, other interesting sites located via personnel taking a selfie to register for this app at work include the following locations: - An ammunition storage bunker at Naval Weapons Station Earle in New Jersey. - The legislative offices at the Connecticut State Capitol building. - One of the headquarters buildings at Minot Air Force Base. - A maintenance site on the airfield at Eglin Air Force Base. - Alumni Hall at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis. - And the off-base housing complexes at nearly every single military base in the United States. Of course, these data points only encompass the GPS coordinates that were embedded in the metadata of the selfies taken when users created an account on the app, so the data that was leaked is merely a snapshot of wherever a person was when they registered an account. Most of the GPS points presented in this data were very precise, pinpointing users within a diameter of 36ft or so on average. GPS errors are also likely to throw off this dataset, so it's probable that quite a few data points are inaccurate. However, most of the data (as leaked) is good enough for nationstate-level malign actors to have a field day when it comes to espionage. A person who is unhappy with the person they are in a relationship with, who is also willing to submit their full legal name and street address (or GPS location) makes for a prime espionage target when this data is cross-referenced with other data. It takes exactly two clicks to import the leaked data to a map, and overlay that map with known sensitive military sites around the nation...perhaps in the process finding a few new locations as well. It is also easy to cross-reference this data with property ownership documents to find out how many people took a selfie at a different address than listed on their driver's license...or on their spouse's voter registration records. In short, what seems to be at face value a rather superfluous data breach on a gossip app, may end up having serious national security concerns now that malign actors know the exact GPS location of tens of thousands of potential blackmail targets. Regardless of how this scandal started, the intelligence agencies of dozens of nations are probably crawling through this data set right now, looking for potential vulnerabilities. Furthermore, certain areas within the dataset appear to have been geofenced...there is not a single reported user's data in the entire district of Washington D.C. or all of lower Manhattan. While this is completely speculative at this time, if this app was designed as a honeypot trap from the ground up (for espionage purposes), it's possible that certain areas of the US would be geofenced, to prevent certain powerful people (or politicians) from being caught up in the operation. Once again, this is purely speculative, but it is interesting that some of the most densely populated cities in the US had absolutely zero reported users register. In the world of espionage, one might think that politicians would be a primary target for situations like this, but this is unlikely in this case. Politicians are often compromised by men in dark suits, not normally a cheap app that allows one to gossip about other people. Their spouses however, are a different story. The prime target for these types of operations (if this is indeed more of an espionage attempt) are exactly the people who were targeted...low-to-mid level employees (and their spouses) who would be more easily blackmailed with the type of information that they submitted to the app. What will come of this is anyone's guess, but beyond the obvious embarrassment angle of this situation (and this affair highlighting actual affairs), the national security risks via blackmail are probably extremely high. What makes this risk unique is that for now, most people are focusing on the socially embarrassing side of this scandal, and not the security risks that are present. As such, when this story is dropped like a hot potato from the news cycle in a few days, that moment is precisely when national-level assets are likely to attempt to exploit the tens of thousands of targets that have now been exposed. How Scammers are Exploiting Addicted Aviator Players with Fake Bot Schemes Over the past several days, a wave of distressing complaints has continued to emerge from across the country regarding an online betting game called "Aviator" that is hosted on various popular gambling platforms, with affected Kenyans now describing it not only as deceptive in its design but as the starting point of broader ruin in their personal lives. This crisis has deepened steadily, fed by persistent advertising on national television channels, local vernacular radio stations and sponsored content across social media platforms, all of which continue to present the game as harmless or even rewarding. What has now become evident through a series of testimonies is that many users, some of whom never imagined themselves vulnerable to gambling addiction, have found themselves trapped in what they describe as a never-ending cycle of loss and desperation. The game’s premise appears simple. A plane takes off and rises in multiplier value, and players are expected to cash out before the virtual plane crashes. But beneath this design is an unpredictable algorithm which, to many victims, has translated into financial devastation. We have received dozens (now running into hundreds) of messages from users who say they lost control over their gambling habits, with some placing bets multiple times a day and suffering escalating losses with each round. Among those who have reached out are Kenyans who were staking entire salaries, others who sold household items to keep playing and some who have even borrowed money under false pretences, driven by the hope of recovering previous losses. Affected users span all walks of life. Young professionals, unemployed youth, parents and even people with previous betting experience who now say that Aviator has pushed them beyond their limits. It is against this backdrop that a new layer of exploitation is beginning to take shape. After consistent posts about these grievances and after amplifying these testimonies of addiction, deceit, and financial ruin, we are now learning of another disturbing angle that has taken root within the Aviator space. Multiple users have begun reporting a pattern of targeted scams, where fraudsters embed themselves within the very chat interface of the game, promising to help people win by using so-called bots or systems that can predict flight crashes. These scammers appear to prey on players who have already suffered losses and are desperate for a recovery path. They present themselves as insiders or “helpers” with access to special tools or software capable of guaranteeing wins. According to reports, they then convince users to either surrender their betting account credentials or to send a payment, usually branded as a ‘bot subscription’ or ‘server fee’ with the promise that the scammer will then play on their behalf and multiply the user’s stake. In multiple cases, victims say that once the payment or account access has been granted, the scammer goes completely silent. Phone numbers are switched off, WhatsApp chats are deleted, contact blocked and the victim is left with even greater losses, both emotionally and financially. "Hi Nyakundi. There is also scammers on the Aviator who lure people telling them they can help them win using bots. So far have experience two scammers. They ask you for your account details and you give them with the stake of whichever ever amount you choose. Then they go offline and switch their phone never to hear from then. Some ask you to pay server bot fee of 3k or less to the number they give you. That number is then switched off. The scammers share their WhatsApp numbers on the chat section of the Aviator. Was just scammed yesterday: I have the chat conversation and payment to fake bot server to do the work. This is the audio msg to convince one to give the account then and they play for you or you pay subscription fee which you will never win anything."

DON'T LET YOUR BITCOIN DIE WITH YOU 💀 ⚰️ Yea look, nobody likes to admit it but we all have to die one day. As I've been talking to people about their self custody lately - both Casa members and not - I hear the same thing over and over. "What happens if I die?" Many people feel pretty good about their bitcoin security for themselves. But their family members often have no idea how to use this stuff. Hardware wallet? Seed phrase stamped on metal? Shamir's secret sharing backups using SD cards, a passphrase, and a treasure hunt through the backyard with a shovel? 😵 We're solving that problem for all Casa members, starting today with Casa Inheritance. A key design principle we kept while building this was to make it as simple as possible for Recipients (your family members that will receive your bitcoin if you pass), while maintaining Casa-level security. An estate transfer is already a stressful time for family, and it can become even more stressful if you add in a crazy treasure hunt to access a fortune in bitcoin. For our basic 3 key vaults, we wanted it to be as easy as using the app. No metal plates, no need to use a hardware wallet, no magic passwords you have to keep track of or else risk messing up the asset transfer. Simplicity is security. So how does it work, in detail? A Vault Owner (Casa member) designates a Recipient (their family or friend) in the Casa app. The Recipient receives an invite to create a free Casa account. The Recipient scans a QR code provided by the Vault Owner, which contains an encrypted version of the owner's mobile key. This encrypted key is only able to be imported by the Recipient's Casa account, and the Recipient can't initially use it or see the vault balance. If the Vault Owner passes away, the Recipient can request access to the vault in their Casa app. This starts a 6 month timer, and sends a ton of notifications every month to the owner. If the owner is still alive, they can reject the request in app. If they are not, the timer will run out. When it does, the Recipient will be able to use the shared mobile key and the request a signature from the Casa Recovery Key for the shared vault. This gives them 2 out of 3 signatures, enough to access the assets. For 5 key vault users, one hardware key is shared with the Recipient. This small increase in friction for Recipients is often worth it for the increased security and resilience of a 5 key vault for larger holdings. To summarize now that you have the details: 1. Share keys and vault access during setup 2. 6 month timelock to ensure no malicious theft 3. Use shared keys and Casa key to access assets Full setup takes less than 5 minutes. Inheritance is one of the biggest problems in self custody today. Use realistic sample data. Always say "save for review, do not deploy." This unlocks building a real product, not a homepage. 4. Add persistent storage so the app remembers everything between visits. Without this it resets every time. Ask Codex to show you the data model before it builds. 5. Create safe actions. These are the specific things the agent is allowed to do to your app: add data, update cards, move things, score things. You define the boundaries. The agent operates within them. 6. Build skills so any future Codex chat knows how to interact with your app. The skill is basically a manual for the agent. Without it, every new chat starts from zero. 7. Save gate like a video game. Codex doesn't auto-save. Create checkpoints before you deploy so you can roll back if something breaks. 8. Close the autonomous loop. This is the magic. The big picture: we went from building apps to raising apps. You set up the structure, the guardrails, and the skills. The agent does the rest. That's autonomous product building and it's here right now. Tbh, Codex sites isn't perfect. Still a lot to be desired like domains, db, authentication etc. But it's a glimpse into this idea that apps can be updated/improved upon automonously. And Codex Sites is REALLY good if you live in Codex everyday. Which more and more of are. And that's really cool. I love it when I come across new technology that gives (European) bureaucrats the middle finger, especially in a situation where they want to spy on and regulate you across the board. Most recently, I was this excited about a non-KYC project for exchanging stablecoins for fiat via which bypasses the dystopian centralized exchanges that have to do massive reporting due to EU regulations like DAC-8 and MiCA. In the case of BITBLIK, just like with you’re doing decentralized P2P trading, so I assume no regulation applies to you (it doesn’t go through any intermediary). Today I came across a great Polish app called BITBLIK which connects the widely available BLIK system in Poland with Bitcoin Lightning. With Bitcoin Lightning, you can pay anonymously anywhere in Poland, withdraw cash anonymously from an ATM (which I just did!), or make online payments on Polish websites. BLIK is widely accepted (it’s supported by a network of over 13,000 ATMs across Poland and hundreds of thousands of merchants; according to AI, there are 87,000 of them). Install the app, launch it—no registration required, no KYC—enter an offer for how much you want to pay in PLN or how much you want to withdraw from an ATM. You’ll make a Bitcoin Lightning payment, which will be locked. Wait a minute or two until someone accepts your offer (the other party who has BLIK and wants Bitcoin Lightning). As soon as they do, a BLIK code will appear. It’s valid for about two minutes, so enter it at an ATM or at a terminal in a store or restaurant. After a successful payment, you confirm that you used the BLIK code, and the Lightning payment is credited to the recipient. Limits for BLIK payments vary by Polish ATM. ING Bank Śląski has the highest limit: 10,000 PLN per day (2,356 EUR), while mBank has a limit of 5,000 PLN per day (1,178 EUR). PKO BP allows BLIK transactions up to 1,500 PLN, but you can make up to 20,000 PLN (4,722 EUR) worth of transactions per day. And of course, those limits apply to the merchant. When various merchants accept your Lightning payments, you effectively have no limits—you’re only limited by the counterparty’s liquidity. BLIK is 100% open-source, so it can’t be banned! You can fork it and use it within your own closed community.
