This is how bad and pathetic the water situation in Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare, has become. A borehole is being drilled on Kaguvi Street, outside HT Tyres. This is what corruption does to a country, central government controls everything in councils, resulting in this collapse. In cities like Harare, the need for boreholes reflects how corruption and central government interference have crippled local authorities, stripping them of the capacity to provide basic services. Boreholes in central business districts indicate that the municipal water supply system has failed. In a functioning city, clean and reliable piped water should be standard, particularly in central areas. Most of Harare, including the most affluent areas, does not receive piped water at all. The Water Act clearly states that Central Government (ZANUPF Government) should build dams! This has not been done due to rampant historic corruption. Today, it serves the Harare metropolitan area and satellite towns such as Chitungwiza, Epworth, Norton, and Ruwa with a total population of around 4.5 million people. The same lake that provides drinking water also receives untreated sewage. Residents have resorted to boreholes, sadly, something the last colonial ruler Ian Smith predicted would happen. How tragic that predictions once dismissed as racist have now come to pass.

The fact that the ruling party would do this to citizens and sees nothing wrong with it defines the type of leadership that has ruined this once prosperous country beyond recognition of what it used to be for its people! This video shows the home of Gilbert Bgwende, a member of the Constitutional Defence Forum, engulfed in flames in the early hours of yesterday in Highfield in Harare. Bgwende is one of the members of the Constitutional Defence Forum who have been vocal in opposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his rule to 2030. According to witnesses, the arsonists arrived in three black cars, ordered the occupants to vacate the house, poured a flammable substance, and set it ablaze. Two police officers are currently on the scene, but the house has been completely destroyed and is now uninhabitable. The seminar room at SAPES, which was meant to be used by a group of civil society and political leaders to launch their resistance against President Mnangagwa’s 2030 term extension, was also torched in the early hours of yesterday and completely gutted to the ground. The attack, coming just hours before the planned press conference, underscores the regime’s growing desperation to silence dissenting voices and suppress any organised opposition to the 2030 agenda. Interestingly, the 2030 Agenda has inadvertently breathed new life into opposition politics in Zimbabwe. Where there was once apathy and fragmentation in response to the country’s political decay, the push for a term extension has now united groups and individuals who were previously divided, bringing together former rivals under a common cause to resist it. In attempting to consolidate power, the regime has instead rekindled political consciousness and solidarity among those determined to defend Zimbabwe’s constitutional order.

My humble question to Hon Punjab Governor Shri Ghulab Chand Kataria Ji whether the march he is leading against drugs is actually a campaign against drugs or an attempt to run the ‘Samjhuta Express’ and prepare ground for forging Akali-BJP alliance in the state. Before leading the march did you raise the matter with the Union Home Ministry under whose jurisdiction the border security falls. The BSF jurisdiction has been expanded upto 50 kms inside the borders. While the AAP government has completely failed already, what is the central government doing to prevent smuggling of drugs from across the border. I would request you to raise the matter with the union Home Ministry before running the ‘Samjhauta Express’ for an Akali-BJP alliance in the name of anti-drug march. I must add, the pictures of the ‘march’ look too “nice” to be overlooked for the “obvious message” they carry and convey.

BYC condemns the use of force against the family members of Zaheer Baloch and other peaceful protesters in the strongest terms. Today, the 11-day sit-in protest by the families of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals was attacked by the forces when they were marching towards the Red Zone. Elderly men, women, and children were subjected to brutal violence, including live firing. Dozens of protesters were taken into custody and shifted to unknown locations. For decades, the state institutions' response to peaceful demonstrations has been violence and intimidation. The forced disappearances and genocide of the Baloch people continue, and when the families and civil society protest, they are treated with cruelty, beaten, dragged, and imprisoned. After facing severe crackdown, the protesters have reorganized and continued their protest. We urge the Baloch and Pashtun people to join the protest as soon as possible and call on the judiciary to intervene in this matter to safeguard the right to peaceful assembly of these already victimized people.

Civil Rights Group, Le Front Citoyen Togo Debout has accused Togolese government agencies of killing at least seven (7) protesters and committing other heinous crimes against citizens in the recent protests against Faure Gnassingbé , who has had his grip on power since 2005, after succeeding his father. Help! Today, in the brutal attack of the Islamic Republic troops on the peaceful march of the people of Malekshahi, Ilam, at least 7 young people of the Kurdish nation have died and dozens of people have been injured without access to hospitals. In addition to this, the government forces raid people's homes and have arbitrarily arrested dozens of people and made their fate unknown. While condoling the families of the victims and condemning this crime against humanity, I demand from President Trump, the heads of free countries and international organizations to take quick measures to prevent the killing of the people of Kurdistan, Lorestan and Bakhtiari, which have now become the focus of the uprising against the Islamic Republic. Our people in these areas need to implement the principle of “Responsibility to Protect” and establish a “No-Fly Zone” to be safe from massacre. Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Tehran for a second consecutive day of protests. In Iran’s capital, merchants and shop owners have blocked streets and staged demonstrations. On Monday, many also closed their shops and called on Iranians to join a strike, eyewitnesses told the Associated Press. The main trigger for the unrest has been the collapse of Iran’s currency. On December 28, the rial fell to a record low of 1.42 million per U.S. dollar. Soaring inflation has sharply driven up the cost of basic goods: food prices have risen by 72% over the past year, while medicine prices are up 50%. Protesters were heard chanting slogans calling for the return of the shah. According to reports from the scene, parts of Tehran’s Grand Bazaar have joined the strike. Security forces responded by using tear gas and water cannons against demonstrators. "All of a sudden, now that the US has expressed an interest (in annexing Greenland)… and again the United States needs to be in control to prevent a war." Greenland is already protected by NATO. The United States has a base in Greenland. And the rest of NATO are already protecting Greenland. China and Russia have no bases in or near Greenland.
