This doctor tells this lady “I recommend you put your child on this medication” (for ADHD) and when the mother pushes back he tells her he would be forced to call CPS, and when she pushes back a second time and explains to the doctor he has no symptoms she would like to get a second opinion he tells her “I am the first and second opinion, I am your doctor”😳😡 wtah !!

Board Certified OBGYN exposes what they must go through just to get one prescription approved by health insurance companies “This is what doctors are dealing with in 2025. So my patient needs a medication, an indicated medication for her condition. So I send the prescription to the commercial pharmacy - The pharmacist tells me that this medication needs a prior authorization and sends me a fax with a 1-800 number - The 1-800 number leads me to a pharmacy benefit manager that wants to ask my npi, my date of birth, the patient's information, what kind of the prescription is, how long do they need it for. Only to tell me at the end of the phone call that I actually have to call the patient's insurance company to authorize the prior authorization for the needed medication - So I call the patient's insurance company and once again, I have to verify my information, the patient's information, the prescription information, what the patient needs it for, only for the insurance company to tell me that this is not how they do prior authorization - So they're going to have to fax me some forms that I'm not allowed to do a prior authorization on the phone - So then the fax comes through and I fill it all out. The patient's information, my information, my npi, what the prescription is, how long they need it for, clinical documentation. And now we sit and wait and see if the powers that be think that the patient actually needs the medication” “I went to school. I went to undergraduate medical school, 4 years of OBGYN residency, then went back and did an integrative medicine fellowship, all for these people to dictate how my patient gets cared for. Please know that your healthcare providers are fighting for you day in and day out on things we don't get reimbursed for.” US Healthcare Insurance executives need to be thrown in prison for what they’ve done to our healthcare system

“No medication actually heals ADHD — they only suppress symptoms.” Gabor Maté said this on Steven Bartlett’s podcast and it really made me stop and think. He explained that the real solution isn’t pills. It’s creating a calm, accepting, low-stress home where parents work on their own stresses so they don’t unconsciously pass them on. When that happens, many kids improve dramatically without medication. Meds, at best, are a temporary stopgap — never the final answer, and no child should be forced into them. We’ve been quick to label kids with a “brain disorder” and reach for pills, but a lot of it seems to be kids reacting to the stressed environments we’ve created. Shifting focus from “fix the child” to “fix the conditions” feels like a much more honest and compassionate approach. Do you think we’re over-relying on medication for ADHD, or is environment and parenting the bigger missing piece? What’s your experience or take?

As someone diagnosed with ADHD when I was younger, I really appreciate this exchange between Lionel Richie and Joe Rogan. It’s exactly what I wish I’d heard growing up. RICHIE: “I tell all the parents, leave them alone!” ADHD medication made me a better student, but it also jacked up my heart rate and blood pressure and made me boring. Don’t rush to medicate kids. Find out what excites them and watch them thrive. ROGAN: “Everybody wants to diagnose everybody and medicate them. I had for sure ADHD when I was a kid. I think everybody that I know that’s talented and creative has ADHD, whatever that means.”

Many women I see and speak to have been refused HRT for no medical reason. They have often been prescribed other medication to try and improve their menopausal symptoms including antidepressants, painkillers, sleeping tablets, anti hypertensives and statins. I have also seen women who have been given gabapentin, quetiapine and also ketamine for their low moods associated with their menopause. In this podcast, Jo talks openly about the medication she was given and the numerous menopausal symptoms she was experiencing which led her to a very dark place. It was only when she received the right dose and type of HRT she improved and has now stopped all these other medications. Receiving perimenopause and menopause advice and treatment is individualised. All women deserve to be listened to and receive the right type of HRT for them.

Secretary Kennedy: “If you are taking psychiatric medication, we’re not telling you to stop.” “We’re making sure that you and your clinician have the information and support to make the right decisions for you.” “That includes a safe, evidence based path to tapering and discontinuation when clinically appropriate.” Since I began speaking about my own experience with psych meds and the importance of slow, hyperbolic tapering, I have always said this is not about telling people to stop taking their medication. People have the right to make decisions for themselves based on their own needs, preferences, resources, and circumstances. Every situation is different. What matters most in this conversation is informed choice, most — if not all — of us have not been given what we need to make one, whether in regards to starting these medications or withdrawing from them. Without that information and support, “choice” is not fully a choice. These historic remarks from Secretary Kennedy mark a massive shift toward providing patients with the tools, guidance, and transparency they need to make truly informed decisions about their care.
