See how Prufrock continuously mines - pushing and building at the same time. The machines, from Las Vegas to Dubai, are remotely controlled from our Bastrop Operations Center. These advances help TBC deliver more miles each year in the battle against soul-destroying traffic.

“Many people think that driving in tunnels is unsafe. Actually tunnels are very safe in earthquakes. Earthquakes are essentially a surface phenomenon it’s like waves on ocean. So if there’s storm you want to be in submarine so being in tunnel is like being submarine.” — Elon Musk

People tend to pay more attention to SpaceX and Tesla, including myself. But this company is poised to revolutionize the way we perceive life, as we know it.

Awesome video showing how tunnels are made. Currently operators use gaming controllers to control the equipment, but that's also training an AI model. Pretty soon, Boring will have AI autonomous mining. Boring's tunnel boring machines are already purpose built robots, and soon they will get an AI brain.

Miles/WEEK?! Did I hear that right? I live in Alpharetta Georgia and the GA 400 improvement and expansion will take FIVE YEARS. And it's 16 MILES.

should starship these Prufrock machines to the Moon and Mars to bore subterranean tunnels, creating subsurface habitats and transport networks. Would drastically reduced radiation exposure, full climate & atmospheric control, and natural protection from the harsh surface above.

This really brilliant and better than flying cars. You build a tunnel once and you unlock 3D travel far more efficiently than launching individual 2 ton cars. It's much safe too than having thousands of flying objects in the air over a city. @grok

Why not run the material on the conveyor over a metal detector? Every once in a while you are going to carve out objects of interest: old coins, jewelry, etc.

The potential is massive. High speed underground trains , roads , under mountains, buildings , even under the sea. Its not Boring but Its the Boring Company ... cool 😎

Love this video and let's keep educating people who never-ever give drilling tunnels a thought re a solution to our infrastructure problems - You guys are crushing it! Keep it coming and have a great weekend. It's a hot one here in CHS - Welcome to Summer Y'all!

RAND's Robert M. Salter in 1972: "Description of a very high speed transit (VHST) system operating in its own rarefied atmosphere in evacuated tubes in underground tunnels. Most cases considered took less time to go coast-to-coast (e.g., 21 min)... &👇

No way this scales in any sizable city, like NYC - where we would need a subway-sized boring machine, larger like the one currently cutting a replacement tube for the Gateway Amtrak/NJ transit trains under the Hudson River. And moving individuals by car will never have the capacity of a subway car or even a bus. As for walking: it's the same from a mass transit stop as from wherever a car emerging from a tunnel (and adding to traffic then) has to park eventually, but the car is MUCH more expensive to buy, maintain and park. Why hasn't boring company scaled up to subway-sized machines? Maybe because they know that speed is primarily a function of tunnel diameter? Maybe if they cut a wider tube that could actually move masses of people, it would be just as slow as existing borers? What happened to the original promise to create a bus for the boring tunnels? What happened to the 100mph sled for Tesla cars? So, we're back to the hyperloop dream which no one who tried was able to make work & which could have fatal catastrophic results if air ever entered the chamber suddenly (think: crushed soda can)?

@teslaownersSV You guys need a mini Prufrock for small tunnels. Would be great for geothermal tunnels or anything really. Possibly even taking it to the moon or Mars.

Wow. Miniature TMB. In the rest of the world 12 metre diameter, 1,600 ton TBMs link hundreds of cities with up to 1,000 seat pods travelling at 200 mph…
