Most people from California aren't exactly dying to move to OKC when they've never been there before. I asked Jared McCain about sort of falling in love with his new home city. “And the city, everywhere I've gone, they're always trying to help and always trying, always, no matter what. So whether it's being able to just pay for somebody's coffee, help somebody out, give someone a picture, like whatever it is, I try and do that. I think that love just kind of all comes back around to you and that energy comes back and that allows me to fall in love with a city.”

"some people say that watching a good movie (as a director) creates more stress thinking, 'why can't i do it like that?'. but that's not true for me, i don't really compare myself much. i focus on the movie and think it's wonderful that art like this exists in the world and feel grateful for it. in such a messy world, there are people who create works like this, and it's such a relief that these works have been completed and i get to see them. in fact, i get stressed when i see works that aren't very good. not just movies but things under the name of art that pretend to have depth and act all arrogant. as if they're desperate for recognition & wanting to be acknowledged but are empty works. honestly, most art these days makes people so tired and often feels like a kind of pollution. so if you want to do something, you really have to do it well and thinking like that just adds to the stress."

Traveling around America really opened up my eyes, really allowed me to see how I could be living, and just how many opportunities there are, and how many different amazing places there are, all in one country. Like, since I've been back home in the UK, I haven't felt like myself, which sounds so crazy. I now live for that adventure, that crazy lifestyle, that meeting new people, seeing new people every day, and I just long for it. And in America, it is so amazing. I think the show itself is better. I think there's something in this that allows me to like stay in my life while I'm doing it and therefore I think allows me to take care of myself better, which I think makes me better at doing the thing. It's not like I'm saying I'll never travel again, but I want to see what it looks like if you do it a different way. And you know, people in my band have like families now and kids and some aspect of that, too. a moment when MY healed you the most? 🌙 during fansign, a MY came up to me and for no particular reason said "i'm always on aeri's side, no matter what" , "i just really like aeri" and when i heard that, i think i really felt a sense of fulfillment about the work that i do. It also made me think a lot about the fact that people like me and of course i'm grateful but i think that's when i truly realized "this is a really happy moment." like that.
