France just said no to 'Trumpism'. Le Pen’s party = Trumpism.

Oh to have a national anthem this stirring.

I saw Casablanca in a cinema in Amsterdam 🇳🇱 in 1992. Everybody stood and sang along. It was so moving. We remembered history at least till that point.

I wonder if the two-vote system allows French voters to let off some steam in the first round before returning to the 'sensible' options in the second?

What a scene! And if I remember correctly, the singers of La Marseillaise were actual French expats/refugees, for whom the French national anthem must have had particular meaning.

I actually feel emotional with tears over this holy shit. One of the most powerful scenes in cinema partially because of the historical context.
