Though this video might not look like much, it shows something pretty remarkable. This footage, which we captured this past September on the Kabetogama Peninsula, is the first confirmed observation of lynx kittens in Voyageurs National Park (and one of only a few observations of known lynx reproduction in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem). Although lynx have been observed/documented in the park sporadically for several decades, there has never been evidence of kittens in the park (i.e., a breeding population of lynx). As a result, most lynx in and around Voyageurs are likely transitory individuals (predominantly males) roaming large area. From 2000 to 2004, biologists with the National Park Service made a concerted effort to study lynx in the park. They only documented the presence of one male and one female, and concluded “lynx were either transient or present at a low density”. Another study from 2007-2008 in and around Voyageurs National Park using trail cameras and snow tracking did not detect the presence of lynx. However, they noted that there were some sightings of lynx outside of the park with one unconfirmed report of a female lynx with a kitten observed to the west of the park. The researchers concluded that “even though patches of high-density snowshoe hare habitat exist in the Voyageurs National Park area, the low density of snowshoe hares at the landscape level would not support resident lynx”. Based on this research and some subsequent work, researchers with the park concluded in 2015 “it does not appear that there are currently resident lynx”. In fact, the researchers in 2012 concluded: ‘only three confirmed observations of adult lynx have occurred within the boundaries of VNP since 2001”. Obviously, studying these elusive animals in places like Voyageurs has historically been difficult because trail camera technology was not what it is today (or did not exist). However, trail cameras have provided a great tool to observe and understand lynx in places like Voyageurs. Skip forward to today: we now routinely get numerous observations of lynx each year in Voyageurs National Park as well as outside the park. Many observations are likely of the same few individuals wandering around, though, based on physical appearances, it seems we are capturing observations of more than 1 or 2 lynx. That said, in general, our trail camera data generally supports the conclusions of the Voyageurs National Park researchers. Most lynx likely are transient individuals, and certainly lynx are at low densities in and around Voyageurs. Nonetheless, this observation of a lynx with two kittens shows that lynx can reproduce in this area, though such occurrences are likely rare. One observation of reproduction is not evidence of a self-sustaining resident population but it suggests it might be possible. Anyway, this finding just highlights how our trail cameras, which are deployed to study wolves, simultaneously capture rare and valuable data on other wildlife species that have been traditionally difficult to study. I'm a 35-year-old American I've lived in Argentina for 5 months so far in 2025 Here are the some things I like more about Argentina than the USA: -It's SIGNIFICANTLY easier to make friends in Argentina. Seriously, I lived in Colorado for the last 10 years, and I was beginning to think I was some fucking weirdo bc of how small my social circle was. The social life here is just so organic. If you're not a weirdo, you just attract friends...especially as an ex-pat. Everyone is always about milling around the city, playing sports, drinking mate, going to cafes/boliches/concerts/events. I don't know why, but in 5 months here, my social circle is already bigger and stronger than the one I had in 10 years in Denver, Colorado. -Politics isn't life here. There's some type of weird brain virus that's destroying the minds of the American people. Politics has seeped into every aspect of the culture fabric and it's become this weird, unavoidable daily reality. In Argentina, the people are well-informed about politics and global affairs, but it doesn't dominate the conversation. Very refreshing for me. -People are generally healthier and more beautiful. In general, the Argentines are some healthy, skinny, beautiful mf's. The men, the women, everyone. No radical Ozempic intervention is required here. -People have less money, but more time and more soul. Average wages here are absolute shite, and so is the Argentine Peso...but people seem to have more time, more energy and less stress, generally. People in the USA have a lot of money, but not a lot of soul. Here it;s the opposite. I've confronted some of the dark aspects of the economic realities here, but generally people are extremely present, laid back and "amable". I'd describe the people here as passionate "life-enjoyers." They are passionate about everything they do. They do it with gusto, soul, and UMPH. Mate - We love that shit Soccer - Hell yeah Hanging out at the park with some dogs - WE Live for this shit Living here has made me appreciate my life so much more. It's a very life-affirming place that gets you in touch with what actually matters.

China is my 61st country 🇨🇳 I’ve spent 2 days in Shenzhen and here’s what amazed me: - Scale! Everything is huge. The city itself is 2x Hong Kong size or 33% Canada size. It easily takes 30-50 min by car or tube to go from one area to another. - Very high tech. Robot deliveries for in-room dining, drones delivering food in the parks, 10 stories robotics markets. - There are also robocard without drivers in some areas but I didn’t have time to try it. - Extremely green. Shenzhen pioneers the concept of harmony between nature and urban planning. It’s basically a city embedded into mountains, sea and greenery. Parks everywhere. - Immaculately clean everywhere from streets to casual eateries. Very high contrast with Yangshuo where I was before. - High patriotism and love for the country & people in every detail. Looks like a great city to live in. - Though nothing is equipped for handicapped people - in general saw this across China so far - The city is very young - only 49 years old. And looks like the population is very young, too. I’ve seen maybe 5% of people over 50 years old on the streets. the only place in China so far where I was constantly asked for Chinese phone number for payments. Still don’t know why. - Very limited English, despite high tech and education. Hotel / restaurant staff didn’t speak at all. Almost no English explanations in museums even - to me it feels like a statement that West is not needed here - Smoking cult. Everywhere, even the room in my non-smoking hotel smelled of cigarettes - A lot of parks, squares and communal areas where people do sports, dance, sing and socialise - Incredible architecture! There are some pretty unique buildings. Each museum site is a masterpiece.

The Xiaomi SU7 just keeps crashing in China - Part 3 This is getting out of hand. Every day, we see new videos on Chinese social media of crashing Xiaomi SU7 sedans. We only post 25% or so, there is much more. Since our last Xiaomi crash-post on April 6, at least 10 new crashes have happened. Whenever a new model is launched, photos of crashes of that car start to appear on Chinese social media, just because people pay attention. Normally, after a few months, the attentions is over and the model really crashes as much as any other car. But in case of the Xiaomi SU7, something more seems to be going on. The latest videos show SU7 sedans in a ditch and against barriers. The 2nd video is interesting. It shows an SU7 on a parking lot, crashing into a Chery QQ that was parked there. Perhaps the auto-park function didn't notice the small QQ and went for it? There have been reports in Chinese media that insurance companies are refusing to insure the SU7. Xiaomi and the insurers have stated that these reports are false. We will try to find out more about insurance prices for the SU7. The RWD SU7 Pro has 220 kW, the AWD Max has 673 kW and the AWD Ultra has 1138 kW. When the SU7 launched, there was a problem with the brakes. This has since been fixed, according to Xiaomi. Also, the launch of the Ultra has led to some debate in China, about whether it is wise to sell a 1138 kW (1548 hp) car to anyone who can afford it. And with a $72.7K price tag, that's a lot of people. Xiaomi #ChineseCars #China Porsche #Crash #CarCrash #CarNews

Highway Harassment: Two Youths Create Chaos Near Shobha Town Park in Bengaluru Some aspects of human behavior, unfortunately, seem difficult to change especially when it comes to a lack of civic sense and respect for others in public spaces. A recent incident on the highway near Shobha Town Park in Attibele highlights this concern. A car bearing registration number KA-03NY-3552 was reportedly seen causing disturbance on the road. According to witnesses, two young men inside the vehicle were behaving irresponsibly, making inappropriate hand gestures, shouting at other motorists, and creating unnecessary chaos. Their actions not only caused discomfort to fellow drivers but also raised serious concerns about harassment and road safety. Such reckless and disrespectful behavior on public roads is unacceptable. Highways are meant to be safe spaces for everyone, and actions like these can easily escalate into dangerous situations, potentially leading to accidents or conflicts. It reflects poorly on the individuals involved and shows a disregard for basic social responsibility and discipline. Authorities should take note of such incidents and ensure strict action is taken against those who misuse public spaces in this manner. At the same time, it is important for individuals especially young people to understand the importance of responsible behavior, mutual respect, and adherence to the law while using public roads. Karnataka State Police S.
