More my issue is, at the level I play at we keep the ball. We make the opposition run. Because we have the ball. Not boot it long and see what happens.

People seem to forget that he is with these guys all week, they have intensive training and run through what is going to be needed at the next game. This isn’t supposed to be a full on strategy talk, it’s a reminder for them about what they should already know.

Have you played football? Because I don’t remember having a coach tell me to kick it long and win duels. Always been about keeping the ball and scoring goals.

Hes not asking them to kick it long all the time. But you have to kick it long sometimes (try it out in sunday league - it works😉). And when you do it is all about gaining possesion high up on the oppositions field by winning the second Ball. And he reminds them of winning those second balls also when the opponents kick it long. A lot of our good attacks comes from winning possesion on the opponents last third. So super important.

That’s why they kick it in the far corner for kick off and try winning the ball. Winning second balls is great but. I’d rather play it back and build up

Yeah me to - but the best thing is to mix it up. So ofc its part of the gameplan. I guess we all would like Spurs to be where Gooners are… and set pieces and long balls is part of the way… and then we also need to master possesion high up the pitch and better chance creating. Nothing wrong with this at all, every manager will be saying the same just beforr you go out, you have done all the tactical work in the week. He isn't saying to kick it long he is saying when you are forced to kick it long or force the opponents you have to win youur duels
