Just a quick Saturday Reminder: Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory are not attacks, nor are they escalation. Even “retaliation,” while still an acceptable term, does not accurately describe Kyiv’s actions. They are best described as defense, defensive actions, defensive measures, defensive operations, or deterrence. By contrast, Russia’s actions can only be described as attacks and aggression. None of its strikes can reasonably be characterized as “retaliation” against a nation exercising its right to defend itself from an unprovoked war of aggression.
