Mike Johnson on a billion taxpayer dollars for Trump's ballroom: "We do need enhanced security measures. This isn't for the ballroom. It's for the security on the White House facilities, and that's a critically important thing that we have to protect going forward."

"It's brilliant, a ballroom. We need it." Americans are split over President Trump's White House ballroom project, offering sharply different reactions when asked whether the new addition is necessary. One Washington resident backed the project, saying Trump "should be able to have fun and invite people to the ballroom." Others questioned the need for the new space, with one critic arguing, "There's so much more we have to tackle. And building a ballroom should not be a priority."

HOLY CRAP 🚨: “You had repeatedly said that taxpayers would not pay for the ballroom at the White House. Why should taxpayers now be on the hook for a billion dollars?” President Trump: “Well, they’re not. That’s for many other projects. That’s for projects having to do with safety and a certain section of the White House grounds. That’s not all for the ballroom. We’re putting up $400M to do the ballroom section of the ballroom.” “We are putting that up privately.” “They want to do certain things militarily with respect to the ballroom.”

Q: Should the final bill explicitly rule out funding for the ballroom itself? MIKE JOHNSON: The president is excited about building a ballroom with private funding, not taxpayer funding, but the Secret Service says we have to think differently about security. Congress has a role in funding that.

Axelrod: When I was in the white house, I got a call from Donald Trump. And he called to say he wanted to build a ballroom. And he said, we have those shitty little tents. He never raised security. He is obsessed with building a ballroom. This just became a convenient way to divert public money into the project because he it became much more expensive and he couldn't extort enough from the donors

Lindsey Graham: President Trump said to me... we need the ballroom not just for me but for future presidents. He literally could have left his bedroom, walked out the back of the White House and been at the ballroom. That's what needs to happen when you have 1,000 or 2,000 people gathered in a day's environment. And the sooner we get the ballroom built, the more hardened it is, the better for the country.

🚨 JUST IN: AG Todd Blanche confirms President Trump is elevating to the SUPREME COURT to overturn activist judges and continue White House military complex-ballroom construction 47 is hereby declaring this a NATIONAL SECURITY and MILITARY project, which can be used to circumvent the weaponized judges 🔥 "We don't believe we have to go to Congress. We believe Congress has already given us the authority to do what we're doing!" "Many presidents have done a tremendous amount of work to the White House as they should, and Congress has authorized them to do so." "And so we have a fundamental disagreement with those two judges as we have told the Supreme Court earlier this week." "He has the authority to do this. And he said that because he absolutely does have the authority to do this. And we're hopeful that the Supreme Court recognizes that and so that we can get the ballroom finished as soon as possible." "It is a ballroom, but it's also a meaningful upgrade and necessary part of the security of the city and the security of the president and his family." "And so it's not just about a place for world leaders to come and have dinner. It's also about making sure the president, his family, guests, world leaders are safe when they're in the city."

🚨 JUST IN: The Trump DOJ just wrote a SCATHING demand to the activist attorneys suing to stop Trump’s ballroom after last night’s shooting “Put simply, your lawsuit puts the lives of the President, his family, and his staff at GRAVE risk. I hope yesterday's narrow miss will help you finally realize the folly of a lawsuit that literally serves no purpose except to stop President Trump no matter the cost. Enough is enough. Your client should voluntarily dismiss this frivolous lawsuit today in light of last night's assassination attempt on President Trump. If your client does not dismiss the lawsuit by 9:00 AM on Monday, the government will move to dissolve the injunction and dismiss the case in light of last night's extraordinary events. We will state your position as opposed if we do not hear back from you by 9:00 AM on Monday.” “Yesterday's assassination attempt on President Trump proves, yet again, that the White House ballroom is essential for the safety and security of the President, his family, his cabinet, and his staff. When the White House ballroom is complete, President Trump and his successors will no longer need to venture beyond the safety of the White House perimeter to attend large gatherings at the Washington Hilton ballroom.”
