Senior SAPS Ballistics Expert Faces Additional Charges Laurance Makgotloe, a senior SAPS ballistics expert, now faces an additional count of accessory to murder after the fact, as well as a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition after he was allegedly found in possession of 38 live rounds. The state... alleges he deliberately doctored a ballistic report in a 2018 murder investigation, in addition to similar tampering linked to the 2024 assassination of Armand Swart. Prosecutors say the alleged manipulation of ballistic evidence undermined key investigations and may have allowed suspects to evade justice in multiple violent crime cases. Makgotloe also faces a charge of defeating the ends of justice. The matter has been postponed to 4 June 2026 for a formal bail application.show more

Johannes Natland was allegedly recruited by a Swedish organised crime group linked to Iran. He was arrested at a hotel in Huddersfield in March 2025.
