Can they eventually just go for it if ATC takes too long or for security reasons? Just book it and ignore ATC and go Due Regard from the get go? Seems a lot of time to get that clearance

Jeebus. Still calm, cool, collected. Sounds like they did it every day. Nobody squawking (complaining, that is), no "WTF!!!"s, no protests. Everyone is 100% dialed in.
