This is a significant step forward in Pakistan’s space exploration journey that positions the country in the community of a select group of nations actively engaged in human spaceflight programs. Under this collaboration, Pakistan is preparing for its first-ever participation in a mission to the China Space Station (CSS). The mission is currently planned for launch in late 2026, where a Pakistani astronaut will serve as a Payload Expert aboard the Shenzhen mission. During mission aboard the ‘China Space Station (CSS)’, the Pakistani astronaut will conduct several scientific experiments in microgravity. These experiments span critical areas including material science, fluid physics, life/ bio science, and biotechnology, with potential applications for climate resilience, food security, and industrial innovation. #WATCH | Kolkata, West Bengal: On Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla heading to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 Mission, Indian scientist Tapan Mishra says, "The Indian government has planned to launch the Gaganyaan mission with our own astronaut from India by next year. As part of that initiative, four astronauts have been selected. Among them, one primary astronaut and one backup astronaut have been sent to participate in the Axiom-4 Mission—a commercial mission to the ISS, operated by private space company Axiom Space, which charges around $65 million per astronaut. This is part of ISRO's ongoing astronaut training program. These astronauts were initially trained extensively in Russia, and now they are also being exposed to training and operational environments in the U.S., giving them experience with different types of launch systems. This dual exposure will help us identify and incorporate necessary precautions and best practices into our own Gaganyaan mission. With nearly a year to go before the launch, this opportunity serves as a valuable learning experience for ISRO to ensure a successful and safe human spaceflight mission."

In an awe-inspiring moment from the fram2’ Fram2 mission, our #Science Cubes MELITE and Space-THAL were captured floating freely in the cupola with the Earth’s polar regions in the background. These scientific studies, led by Malta’s biotech company Spaceomix, are the world’s first to send diabetic foot ulcer tissue and ocular tissue microbiome samples (via our partners at فلك لعلوم وأبحاث الفضاء ) into a polar orbit. We aim to uncover how spaceflight, microgravity, and radiation alter the microbiome and relate to #diabetes complications back on Earth 🌍  In parallel, Space-THAL investigates the effects of #space travel on bone marrow-derived stem cells, cord blood, and peripheral blood, paving new ways to understand blood disorders, #anaemia, and long-duration space missions. On July 29, the Tianlian-3-01 relay satellite was launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Center aboard a Long March-7A carrier rocket. When I was a 10 year old kid I knew this scene was silly - US Space Shuttles (operated by the US Marines out of Vandenberg??) deploying a platoon of astronauts to fight with lasers in space. And of course the more I learned about spaceflight the more ridiculous it gets, I mean these days I think about the procedures which would be involved in this kind of launch and payload deployment. Consider the technical problems of launch a unit in space suits, this is a quick turnaround they have to be ready to go within an hour of launch that means the team in the back are briefing their plans while loaded in the back of the shuttle during the countdown, no time to waste. Preparation is everything. And they have to be preparing for the EVA, normally on the ISS that means breathing pure oxygen for hours to remove nitrogen from the blood, but that would be dangerous in a full EVA suit at 1 atmosphere of pressure, you don't want the whole unit combusting. So that crew likely has to use regular oxygen with a substitute gas until the shuttle is in flight and able to drop pressure down to suit pressure. And the most logical substitute gas is helium, so those last minute briefings are going to sound like a bunch of chipmunks until a couple of minutes into flight. Obviously this kind of detail cut from the movie... obviously.

China unveiled on Wednesday the names of its moon-landing spacesuit and the crewed lunar rover. According to a news release from the China Manned Space Agency, the new spacesuit, which will be worn by astronauts as they walk on the lunar surface, is named 望月 (Wangyu), or Stargazing, while the manned rover's name is 探索 (Tansuo), or Exploration. The names were reviewed and chosen by a group of experts from more than 9,000 proposals, which were solicited from members of the public. The agency explained that the word "Wangyu" symbolizes a new chapter in China's space endeavor that features manned missions to the moon and deep-space expeditions and also demonstrates the country's determination to uphold the peaceful use of outer space and pursue a shared future of mankind. Currently, prototypes of the spacesuit and rover are being designed and the research work has been progressing smoothly. China has announced its plan of conducting its first manned mission to the moon around 2030. China’s manned spacecraft was named Mengzhou in 2024, meaning dream vessel, which reflects the fact that the manned lunar exploration carries the Chinese people's space dream and opens a new journey of space adventure. The country’s lunar lander was named Lanyue in 2024, meaning embracing the moon, a term that appeared in a poem written by the late Chairman Mao Zedong. The word symbolizes the Chinese people's confidence in exploring the universe.
