Thanks to Johan for digging into this! For almost two years, IF Metall’s own protest barracks in Umeå have been running without any building permit and they’ve been stealing power straight from Umeå municipality’s grid. No permission, no agreement, just free juice to keep their picket signs lit and coffee machines humming. Tesla is dragged through the mud for trying to keep chargers online during your endless sympathy blockades, but when it’s IF Metall’s turn to bend (or break) the rules on electricity and permits? Crickets. This is peak Swedish union logic in 2026: rules for thee, but not for me. If you’re going to moralize about “respecting the Swedish model” and “not creating own networks”, maybe start by paying your own damn electric bill and getting a building permit for that eyesore shack. This is Momma Hen and she is one of the oldest chickens we have on the farm. Each year she goes “broody” and hatches eggs we intend to keep for consumption. That’s okay because we get more hens each year without paying for any. She’s a bit quirky though - instead of keeping the chicks with the flocks, she moves them to this old coal chute built into the side of the house. This is where she’s raised them since they were first hatched. No heat lamps, weather protection by us or much else and the chicks are now growing into mature hens!

This is something truly heartbreaking. Seeing these voiceless animals being forced to pull loads far beyond their capacity, treated with such neglect and cruelty, shakes you from within. In today’s world, where so many alternatives exist, why are these innocent beings still not phased out from such brutal labor? They are made to work in the harshest environments, without rest, without care, without compassion. Just look at this male buffalo, struggling as he pulls wet sand from a canal. Every step he takes is filled with pain and exhaustion, yet he has no choice. No voice to cry for help. No way to escape. We often ignore these sights as “normal,” but this is not normal. This is suffering. This is injustice. My heart goes out to each one of these innocent souls who silently endure so much every single day. They don’t deserve this life of pain. They deserve dignity, kindness, and freedom. It’s time we question this. It’s time we raise our voices. Because if we don’t speak for them, who will? #AnimalCruelty #BeTheirVoice
