The only problem is that the 'problems' being solved nobody cares about. As soon as one of these things actually solves something meaningful and a company or government benefits off it, BAM. But if that never happens, this industry goes back to useless conjecture. Time to do something with it we care about guys.

Been following quantum news for a while. These stories, and the many that came before it are the same: 1. Announce a function that no one would ever want to do in history has been completed x,000,000,000,000,000 times faster than if you would do it via pen and paper. 2. Celebrate

Skeptical, there were a lot of problems that were never resolved from their 2019 quantum supremacy paper they dropped. And in this new thing a Nature referee bluntly: there’s *no theoretical result showing an exponential quantum vs classical gap for these OTOC tasks; some extensions might even be polynomial time

Yeah, right. And THIS is the year, no really, seriously, believe me, I'm not kidding, THIS is the year that we'll have the promised fusion energy powering everything on Earth. How could you doubt my claim?

If the computer is smart enough to solve that problem, it could give any output, and we would believe it because we have no way to verify it. Let me solve the real problem. This type of computing is a human self-destruct button. As is ASI. 1. If you build an amoral being, dont make it smarter than you. 2. If you do make it smarter than you, dont connect it to everything. 3. If you do connect it to everything, make some fail safes. 4. If you dont make good failsafes dont build a robot army. 5. If you build a robot army, build it weaker than the average human. 6. If you dont build it weaker than the average human, go back to step one.

How could you create a calculation that's solved in minutes that would take 10 septillion years for a regular computer to solve and still know it's correct?

Question to you: You don’t get any doubt on that claim? If a computer takes 10 septillion years to calculate value, i.e RHS, how would you validate the result and say it’s correct. Quantum computer can give any output and u say it’s correct because u got output??

In the video they say the famous sentence "In 5 years...". The problem it solved is not a real one and this is all performative to make Google feel like they are on top of everything.

I’m hyped for the future. But if that post is true (it’s hard to keep up given the levels of true hyperbole that come out of the industry) and were I a gambler, odds on within 2 years that computer will be beaten on the same task by a regular computer. Happens every ~12 months:

As usually they solved nothing - they just mrasured quantuum fields. It is not a computer - my thermometer also measures things better the all the computers in the world. Weather forecasts cannot compite.
