It’s actually quite simple. People have miserable lives and they hate everyone that doesn’t.

The just of her commentary seemed to be lost on so many people. She is stating that if comments about her appearance hurt her to just imagine what it does to a 15 year old posting their image on social media. She's right about that. It's too much to bare for a young person.

Now that is one disadvantage of social media... imagine this happened to someone who has struggles with self-esteem...

Yeah, why sould a woman who became rich and famous exclusively for her physical appearance ne judged for her physical appearance. Insanity.

This is the first time in her 50 years of life that Julia Roberts has encountered the absolute dumpster fire that defines social media? I'm extremely jealous.

She kind off alludes to the why: for her it was a joyous moment. A true, simple and happy morning with her niece. A lot of people are just frustrated with life, unhappy and feel like they can't improve their own life (even though they probably could). So, to make themselves feel better, they like to bring people like her (rich/happy/powerful/..) down and the easiest attack vector is calling an "aging" woman ugly.

This from the woman who stole another womans’ husband and used to torture her husbands’ soon-to-be ex wife by prank calling her and making fun of her. The ex wife was pregnant at the time JR and the hubby started screwing around. Boo hoo you hypocrite.

Some women experience being thought unattractive their whole lives. They never get a chance to be considered beautiful, sometimes not even a chance to be noticed at all. If I was a woman, I'd want to be one of those.

She looks great for 58 y/o but we live in a reality in the west where women are expected to look somewhere between 15-25 forever. Heck, have you ever seen the hatred aimed at Brooke Shields from people that think at 60 she should look as she did at 11 years old....

Don't feel too bad. Anyone successful in Hollywood has looked the other way and enabled horrific abuse. She was around during the height of Weinstein. You think she didn't know?
