Speaking from Aleppo, Syria: For this earthquake to occur in a war-shattered region is nothing short of a catastrophe. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost their loved ones. Parents who have lost children; children who have lost parents.

⚡️🇺🇦 Eleven Ukrainian children have been successfully returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories and Russia as part of President Zelenskyy's Bring Kids Back UA initiative. The effort was carried out by the Office of the Ukrainian Ombudsman with the mediation of the State of Qatar. The youngest child returned today is 10 years old, and the oldest is 17. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a total of 1,453 children have already been brought home from the temporarily occupied territories and Russia. A few stories of families: ▪️ The mother of a 13-year-old girl was released from Russian captivity in April 2023. Her daughter and grandmother remained in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. The girl kept asking how she could find her mother and live with her again. Today, after long and meticulous work, for the first time since the full-scale invasion began, the mother and daughter were reunited. ▪️ Five children from one family were also returned. The children's parents had been deprived of parental rights, and during intense fighting in their region, their guardian took them to Russia. For some time, there was no information about the children's whereabouts. Eventually, they managed to contact their sister in Ukraine and expressed their wish to return home. Today, the large family is back together. Thanks to coordinated efforts, these children are home today. Ukraine is deeply grateful to the State of Qatar for facilitating the reunification of these families. Ukraine will continue working to ensure that all our citizens return home. 📹: Ombudsman of Ukraine

What are Ukrainian children doing on a remote island near Japan, in military uniforms, under the Russian flag? They were taken there from Kherson Oblast to be turned into soldiers for a foreign army. This is the story of Korniy, a 15-year-old boy from Kherson Oblast, who, after the Russian occupation, was drawn into a “military-sports center.” Today, he records “greetings” from Shumshu Island, which Soviet troops occupied in 1945, annexing it along with the Kuril Islands from Japan. Now, Ukrainian children from occupied territories are being prepared for a new war here. Thousands like Korniy, torn from their homes and robbed of their childhood, are being taught to hate their homeland and hold weapons in their hands. In a year or two, these children could end up on the battlefield against Ukraine and the West. Save Ukraine has already brought over 800 children back home, but thousands more are waiting to be rescued so they don’t become cannon fodder for Russia. Source :Save Ukraine
