Several drones launched by the Hashd Al Shaabi (PMF), proxy forces of Iran - have attacked the Base of the 70th Forces of the PUK Peshmerga in Slemani. At least one drone has been confirmed to have been intercepted.

Autonomous Region of Kurdistan - Slemani 2 drones were intercepted over the sky of Slemani governorate. 1 drone has been intercepted and crash landed around Tasluja, the other drone was intercepted at the vicinity of the military of the 70th unit of the Peshmerga. Thankfully no one was wounded or killed. This event follows a series of attacks against the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan and Kurdish provinces in Iraq. As of now, there is no official announcement about who the perpetrators were - it is however clear that these were Iranian made drones, heavily in use by the Hashd Al Shaabi (PMF) in Iraq. From previous attacks and given that the Turkmen factions within Iraq have staged large scale protests against the appointment of a Kurdish mayor for a Kurdish area (Pirde) - it is natural to assume that the faction which carried out this attack is a Turkmen faction of the Hashd al Shaabi; these factions have carried out drone attacks against Kurdistans energy infrastructure, especially in the PUK areas, before.

The IRGC has overnight and this morning launched a series of attacks against the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan. The first wave of attacks was aimed at Hawler (Erbil) - several drones were launched to strike sites of the US military within the KRG; the drones were intercepted. Then this morning, the IRGC launched an attack on a camp of the Komala south of Slemani city. 8 Peshmerga of the Komala have been martyred, 13 others are wounded and at least 1 Peshmerga has succumbed to his wounds. This marks a major escalation in the attacks by the IRGC against Kurdish forces from Rojhelat. The IRGC has again implemented its strategy of units that operate autonomously - pre designated sites are being struck at will, without orders from the IRGC command structure. These units use drones from hidden storage sites.

Footage shows the newer explosion in Suleimani’s Tasluja area, which hosts several PUK forces, including Peshmerga, Commando forces and counterterrorism units. The blast was very powerful. At least eight people have been injured in tonight’s IRGC attacks on Suleimani. The second part of the video shows a nearby mosque whose windows were shattered by the force of the explosion.

The units stationed there are mostly Turkmen members of the Hashd; they are also part of the Hashd Special Forces. Aside from that, these units are the ones who were involved in the attacks against the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan; both during and before the current war - operating out of Kirkuk in the Nineveh plains.
