This is gross misconduct, which may lead to dismissals, because: Striking: EMPD officers cannot lawfully strike due to their classification as an essential service under the LRA and the South African Police Service Act. Any strike action would need to navigate significant legal hurdles and could be deemed unlawful unless explicitly permitted through a legal exception. Using State Vehicles: Using EMPD vehicles during a strike is unlawful, as it constitutes misuse of state resources under the PFMA and municipal policies, regardless of the strike’s legality.
