A "pause" gave man-child Trump some rest and time for the US stock market to briefly "renormalize." After failure of negotiations, the goal seems to be to exploit the global economic depression to halt multipolarity by imposing a US naval blockade on transit to & from the Persian Gulf. According to the US, chaos is better than a humiliating defeat.
