In Smile 2 (2024), the terrifying closet scene featuring the towering “Smile Entity” was inspired by Hour of the Wolf (1968), an Ingmar Bergman film. Rather than relying on CGI, Parker Finn created the effect by physically stacking 14 professional dancers on top of one another.

Tarkovsky is for me the greatest, the one who invented a new language, true to the nature of film, as it captures life as a reflection, life as a dream. When film is not a document, it is dream. ~ Ingmar Bergman The Virgin Spring The Sacrifice Once Upon a Time in Anatolia

While David Cronenberg was making "The Fly" (1986) and had to shoot this scene where Jeff Goldblum had to climb the walls & crawl to the ceiling, he remembered that there was a similar scene in Ingmar Bergman's "Hour of the Wolf" (1968). So, he watched the movie again to see how the scene must have been filmed & was amazed when he realised how simple and effective it was. "The Fly" was one of the movies that Bergman had in his VHS collection at his Home in Fårö island.

When Ingrid Bergman first came to Hollywood, David O. Selznick proposed to alter her appearance, thinning her eyebrows, changing her hair color, etc., as was usually done by studios in that era. Bergman refused staunchly, thus retaining her natural looks.

Set in 14th-century Sweden during the horrors of the Black Death, the story follows Antonius Block (Max von Sydow), a disillusioned knight returning from the Crusades. Tormented by existential doubt and the agonizing "silence of God," Block encounters the personification of Death (played iconically by Bengt Ekerot) on a desolate beach. To delay his demise and buy enough time to perform one meaningful, redemptive act in life, the knight challenges Death to a strategic game of chess. As their fateful match progresses across a plague-ravaged landscape, Block and his cynical squire Jöns journey past a gallery of desperate flagellants, accused witches, and a pure-hearted troupe of traveling actors. The Seventh Seal (1957) is a Swedish historical fantasy-drama film directed by Ingmar Bergman.
