Mike Krukow on Jung Hoo Lee’s catch against the Dodgers last night: “That first inning was starting to get away from Adrian Houser. When Will Smith comes up in the first inning and hits this ball, I’m thinking 'This is not good' because if it gets over the head of Jung Hoo Lee, that’s 3 runs. They’re all gonna score in our opinion. JHL makes this great play. He backs up against the wall, comes up and gets the ball so quickly back into the infield that the runners at first and second can’t advance. That inning could have completely blown up. Houser got some confidence in that. He gets out of the inning and goes in the next inning and strikes out the side. It was huge to not only calm that inning, but to give Houser some confidence. As it turns out, Houser pitches into the 6th inning and he gets his first win ever against the Dodgers.” Game changing catch for sure via: KNBR | Brian Murphy

Q: Was there a particularly memorable moment working with the members on this album? Tyler Spry: There’s a video that’s gone around on the Internet when I was writing with V, James Essien and Sean Foreman. That video is not the making of any of the songs that made the album, but it was one of the most fun days I had in the studio with the guys. We were just jumping up and down, singing the songs. I think that it was one of the freest days we had in the studio, creatively. So I do hope that song gets to see the light of day.

WHAT. A. GAME. Garrett Arredondo fans former Patriot Lane Hutchinson and No.20 UT Tyler Baseball wins Game 1 against No.2 Angelo State. A big 3-run sixth inning with an RBI single from Connor Clark and a 2-run double by Drew Schmidt. Schmidt went 3-for-3 and is 11-for-17 in the team's first 5 games. Miles Clack got the win in relief, going 3 2/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, and 1 K. Doubleheader tomorrow and we're excited to see the competition in those two games. #D2Baseball

Here we have the fabled SAAB sponsored shirt, never worn in an actual game despite popular belief it was only for promotional purposes but it caused a stir in the 1970s and put the wind up the establishment , as a club we were one of the forerunners in sponsorship, the track tops were worn on a few occasions, some of the players got new Saab cars and the local Saab dealer was happy. Great spot from DaBooster #dcfcfans

Shifting focus to 2025, RHP Tyler Bremner (UC Santa Barbara Baseball) is one of my favorite College arms in the class. As a freshman, Bremner split time between the bullpen and the rotation and pitched his way to a modest 5.37 ERA with an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 80-to-17 across 55.1 innings. Bremner has a lean, athletic build at 6'2" and 180-lbs. He has room to fill out physically and as he does, his already-electric stuff will only tick up. Bremner has a low maintenance, under control operation with present arm speed. He attacks hitters from a high-three quarter slot and his fastball sits in the 93-96 range and tops out at 98. It has elite riding life (averaged over 21" of IVB in '23) and is most effective when located in the top-half of the zone. Between its velocity and shape, it is a 60-grade offering. He boasts two quality secondary offerings in a mid-80s changeup and low-80s slider. Bremner’s changeup is the more polished of the two, but his sweeping slider has plus potential. In 2023, Bremner’s changeup generated an impressive 48% miss rate. He has advanced feel for the offering, and he will throw it to both left and righthanded hitters. It plays well off his mid-90s fastball and flashes big time late tumbling life and some fade to the arm side. Bremner threw his slider just 12% of the time in 2023, but it has the chance to be a true out pitch in the future. It features ample late sweeping life as well as some depth, and is a real weapon especially against righthanded hitters. It has reportedly taken a step forward this fall and could be a lethal offering in 2024. Between his plus control, low effort delivery, and the chance to have three plus or better pitches, Bremner profiles as a starter professionally. JUST IN: Three survivors of the Delta plane crash in Toronto are in critical condition, one being a child. 76 people were on board the plane that crashed at Toronto's Pearson Airport, with new reports claiming at least 18 people were injured. One man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s sustained critical injuries, according to ABC News. They were rushed to separate hospitals. Another passenger, presumably a child, was reportedly transported to Toronto’s SickKids hospital. "There’s still a lot of uncertainty as to what is going on, but as of right now, there’s no arrivals or departures coming or going," CTV News reported. It's unclear how exactly the plane flipped over, but wind speeds were reportedly 40 mph on the ground and stronger in the air.

This 2d and 10 play in the 2Q of the #Eagles-Chiefs game caught my eye live because it was one of a few attempted deep shots, and while Jalen Hurts may have been expected to pull the trigger to DeVonta Smith up top on the dagger/go double move, I questioned the route concepts and spacing on my latest podcast episode with Mike Sielski. I’ve since asked a few impartial sources that are more experts on this sort of thing, and while they both qualified their answers with not knowing intent, etc., they thought, yes, Hurts could have thrown it, but the Chiefs also got him off the first read, and still had safety help over top, although it looked like Smith got him to turn his hips at the break. Jahan Dotson was the No. 2 at the bottom, and he should be separating when Hurts moves off No. 1. Chiefs had him covered, though, in man. Normally, that route can be more intermediate and/or over the middle. Doesn’t have to be, but another source agreed you’d like to have at least an intermediate No. 3 underneath in Hurts’ line of vision. Clearly that wasn’t the case here. Hurts had all sorts of time and no obvious options after 1 and 2. Calcaterra stayed in to chip, and Barkley to block to set up the shot. All makes sense. Perhaps Calcaterra as the No. 3 could have kept going into the void over the middle on an option route? Nothing egregious here. No easy answers. But thought I’d provide more analysis on a play that I questioned live and in the podcast. Either way, the Eagles are struggling to get guys open downfield deep and on intermediate routes and, at least on Sunday, Hurts maybe missed a few early chances. He and Smith told me after the game that they thought they were “chasing it” too often in the first half. Kevin Patullo’s game planning was more conservative in the 2H and that ended up being enough. But he probably knows it isn’t sustainable.

I attended Mass at saint Theresa's cathedral Nsukka and sat in a row as usual. It was like people were avoiding that seat. A few moments later,a group of people came in and sat there. The Mass began and a religious person stood in front of us and started the sign language. That was when I found out I have been included in the deaf and dumb institution. I quickly moved,but with a grateful heart. At least the church remembers everyone.

Will Ray (Wake Forest Baseball) was one of the most dominant relievers on the Cape this summer. The former two-way showcased a high 80s - low 90s sinker from a sidearm slot with plenty of run and a sweeping slider that limited hitters to an average of 68.2 mph EV and a 0.59 xFIP (per Anthony Marotta as of 7/19). It's a plus pitch that was used more than the sinker and acts as his best offering. He also mixed in a splitter with some sink to get miss in and out of the zone. He appeared in 14 games for the Whitecaps on the Cape, limiting hard contact and base-runners with a 1.18 WHIP, 23 K/2 BB in 22 IP. Ray's stuff played well in the lower half of the zone but was susceptible to the long ball at times. Perhaps adding a four-seam FB that could get some chase at the top of the zone could help his overall profile. As of 7/23, Ray was 100th percentile in hard-hit % and 93rd percentile in opponent average exit speed (per Anthony Marotta). Ray made significant progress in his control and as a result, dropped his 4.9 BB/9 in 44 IP last spring to just 0.8 BB/9 in 22 IP this summer in the CCBL. He was able to make some of the top offensive college bats look foolish (Kurland - sinker, Burress - slider, Martinez - splitter; shown below).

I’m told the 6-3, 205-pound LHP was up to 97 MPH in his start at the Five Tool JUCO #FallFestival with a slider at 83-85 MPH and change up at 89 MPH. 1-2-3 first inning with 2K.
