Shared my opinion with the media about the proposal to extend the working period of IT company employees. #14hrWorkingDay

@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka Scrap the proposed amendment in shop and commercial establishment act to increase working hours. Govt should give priority to the concerns of 20 lakh employees in this sector rather than those profit hungry corporate bosses. Say no to #14hrWorkingDay

@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka this is such a lame defense .. whats wrong with the govt. in Karnataka .. if the discussion was not done, then why make it public .. not sure if this is to deflect something more important .. in any case disappointed with the last 2 announcements from this govt.

As govt. don't you have any responsibility to look after the people and decide what's good and what's bad?

They made inhuman proposal of 14hrs per day. GoK wants open debate. Pls scrap their proposal. Let them work in shifts. Eight hrs/shift

@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka The social media handles may damage the image of the govt portraying the issue as if the govt themselves have made the proposal. Better to officially announce that the proposal has come from the IT firms themselves. Govt has not issued anything in this regard.

This is a joke. No IT company will want their employees work 14 hours a day, every day. There are times when employees may have to work nonstop for more than 24 hours to meet some deadlines but not on a daily basis. Finally, the state government has no role in giving permission for the number of hours an individual can work. It’s purely upto me for the number of hours I work in a day. No one can stop me. Shops and Establishment ACT is not relevant for the IT industry. It’s sad to see ministers who are ill informed assume they have powers to control the industry. They are nobody to give any permission of any sort.

@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka You want IT heads to decide about employer's physical and mental health benefits? The LABOUR ministry you head, is that LABOUR the working-class employees? OR is it RICH IT HEADS? Who are you working and representing? Who puts you in power?

@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka Dear IT employees, Very soon u will have visiting hours carefully chosen by d heads of IT companies within which you will have d freedom to meet your family members. This govt will listen to whatever comes from the 'shankha' of IT companies. 'Note' is more important than 'vote'.
