Block just open sourced Berd, the desktop app its teams use internally to work with AI agents across projects, skills, tools, and models. "We had access to increasingly capable agents through tools such as Goose, Claude Code, and Codex, but working with them meant navigating different interfaces, configuration systems, and ways of managing context. The technology was powerful, but the experience around it was fragmented." Berd brings conversations, files, instructions, agents, and skills together in one place with persistent projects. Built on top of Goose, the open source agent framework Block contributed to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation. Berd connects to Goose through the Agent Client Protocol, handling the desktop experience while Goose runs the underlying agent loop. Block also recently released Buzz, a separate open source workspace for collaborative agent work. Berd is where you start alone. Buzz is where you go multiplayer.

Both are artifacts of a world where design and engineering were two different jobs, with a handoff in between. That world is changing fast. Today, designers ship code, engineers want to escape handoffs, and everyone wants to build tasteful UX. Kombai is built for this new world. Design and engineering, finally on the same side.

Our goal is to open source the best practices and building blocks for building the next ChatGPT and v0-like UIs. It supports artifacts / canvas, code interpreting, and of course it's based on AI SDK. Excited to keep improving its capabilities together with the community.

There were some tracks that V was working on, and while we were having fun creating melodies together, we thought, "Oh? This would be fun to do together," and that's how it all started. 👩🏻 So it came out as a buildup?

Athas is faster now. I'm refactoring and restructuring a big part of the architecture. Started with the workspaces, continuing with the new UI. I waited for a long time to post this, I'm almost there... Athas is an free, open-source IDE built with Tauri (Rust on backend, React on frontend). I have been building this with the help of the community for so long and I'd like to keep doing it because I think this looks and feels beautiful. You're welcome to open any issues/pull requests!

This is incredibly useful for those using Claude Code! I have two computers, and sharing your Claude Code sessions is almost impossible without this. I often start working on something on my desktop, and then want to continue working on the same session (same context, conversation, etc.) on my laptop. The folks at Depot built an integration that solves this problem: You can now start a session on one computer and resume it anywhere else in the world! You can even share it with other team members so they can also contribute to it. Here is an article showing you how the Depot team uses this feature with Claude Code to automate their GitHub Actions Runner updates: Thanks to the team for the effort in building this integration and collaborating with me on this post.
