The blaze has triggered concern among locals and authorities, prompting an urgent and coordinated response. Idaho: Incredible work being done up on the Salmon Challis National Forest. They completed thousands of acres of prescribed fire this last week. You can see the vast amounts of dead standing fuels they are trying to mitigate. “Salmon-Challis National Forest staff successfully implemented 2,200 acres of prescribed fire, 13 miles east of Mackay, Idaho. This prescribed burn is part of the South Lost River Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to improve forest health stand conditions and wildlife habitat by introducing fire back into a landscape that has missed historic fire return intervals. Missed fire intervals have led to declining forest stand health resulting from high tree densities and tight closed canopies. Using fire under prescribed conditions will result in canopy mortality and ground vegetation reduction that will improve stand health and wildlife habitat. Fire severities are expected to vary across prescribed fire area with some areas experiencing high severity fire which may result in 2-20 acre stand openings due to fire mortality.” Thanks to the individual who shared this view of the burn.

It’s time to debunk some LIES about the LA firestorm. Los Angeles experienced a FIRE HURRICANE. We have two seasons in Southern California that most regions don't have. One is the fire season. The other is the winter Santa Ana wind season — when we get extremely high winds. The fire season used to go from July to September. But now, due to changing weather patterns, our fire season lasts until the winter months — which means for the first time in millennia, our fire season ran into our high wind season. With Hurricane-force winds blowing (110+ mph), no helicopters or flying air tankers could take off. Therefore LA could not fight the wildfires by dumping millions of gallons of sea water on them (like we usually do). And amount of water from tiny fire hydrants (or water guns or water balloons, for that matter) could have stopped a fire hurricane. Unless the GOP has UFO technology that can fly helicopters in hurricanes, L.A. would have burned under Republicans, too.

#WATCH | Malviya Nagar fire | Wasim Raja, a local from Hauz Rani village who rescued many people in an attempt to save lives, says, "The moment the short circuit happened, we reached here. We were the first ones to reach here. There is a mattress shop here which was damaged. We took the mattresses from there and laid them on the road to help the foreigners who were jumping out of the building. Soon after, the teams of Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police arrived here. We pulled out several foreign nationals in unconscious condition from inside the building. The villagers, along with firemen and police, rescued many people. We have suffered injuries in our feet due to glass."

California: The Gifford Fire burning in the Los Padres National Forest was active all night, and is mapped at a staggering 12,800 acres. A huge run in less than 10 hours, and it’ll likely be bigger after this morning’s mapping. A Team has been ordered and there are still evacuations in parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Crews were able to get 5% on the fire contained through the evening. Thanks to subscriber Jake Riffel for sharing this view of Fire activity last night.

The Indian Air Force has been carrying out nonstop firefighting operations in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, since yesterday evening, supporting civil authorities in battling the massive forest fire. IAF helicopters are using Bambi Buckets to lift water from Sukhna Lake and drop it over the affected areas. In more than 15 sorties, over 40,000 litres of water have already been released to control the flames. Despite difficult conditions, the crews have continued operations through the night and remain fully committed to containing the fire.

The Dragon Bravo Fire in the Grand Canyon has exploded in size to over 71,000 acres after another huge run yesterday. This is the full progression of fire activity during the burn period and into the night. They are now on their 5th consecutive day of record low humidities over the fire area, and combined with winds, slope alignment, and thick fuels, the fire pushed hard into the Kaibab National Forest. Fire managers are now trying to keep the fire from impacting State Route 67 to the west. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this incredible view of Fire activity last night. Containment has once again been reduced to 9%.
