You can see the vast amounts of dead standing fuels they are trying to mitigate. “Salmon-Challis National Forest staff successfully implemented 2,200 acres of prescribed fire, 13 miles east of Mackay, Idaho. This prescribed burn is part of the South Lost River Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to improve forest health stand conditions and wildlife habitat by introducing fire back into a landscape that has missed historic fire return intervals. Missed fire intervals have led to declining forest stand health resulting from high tree densities and tight closed canopies. It’s time to debunk some LIES about the LA firestorm. Los Angeles experienced a FIRE HURRICANE. We have two seasons in Southern California that most regions don't have. One is the fire season. The other is the winter Santa Ana wind season — when we get extremely high winds. The fire season used to go from July to September. But now, due to changing weather patterns, our fire season lasts until the winter months — which means for the first time in millennia, our fire season ran into our high wind season. With Hurricane-force winds blowing (110+ mph), no helicopters or flying air tankers could take off.
