Mother who went on TikTok asking for money after saying she was “wrongfully” put on the sex offender registry is now facing a wave of backlash. Mary Moore told viewers she had a consensual relationship with an adult, was unfairly labeled a sex offender, and now has to move into a barely livable trailer because the home she is in sits too close to a newly built community center. She also said she cannot stay with her parents because both of their houses are within 1,000 feet of places where children gather. Her pitch: if the video hits 30,000 views and everyone donates just $1 to her GoFundMe, she can cover a temporary rental. So far, Moore has raised $1,240 toward her $7,000 GoFundMe goal. The backlash started when people looked her up. Moore ended up on Georgia’s sex offender registry after she was caught on jail camera and admitted to having sex with an inmate while working as a corrections officer at the Clayton County Jail. She was charged with sexual assault by a law enforcement employee who engages in sexual contact with a person in custody and convicted in 2024. That’s why the “wrongfully convicted” and “it was consensual” framing isn’t landing with a lot of viewers. Many quickly pointed out that, as a correctional officer, she was taught during training that the Georgia Department of Corrections has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual relationships with offenders, and that sexual contact with an offender is a felony under state law.

NEW: Ole Miss freshman speaks out after a rumor went viral claiming she had slept with her boyfriend's father. This story is insane. 19-year-old Mary Kate Cornett is reportedly considering legal action after the rumor went viral, trending number 1 at one point on X. Cornett says her life is ruined after a fake allegation randomly went viral throughout the internet, racking up hundreds of millions of views. The rumor started on the anonymous messaging app YikYak that someone named 'Mary Kate' was sleeping with her boyfriend's father. People then started connecting the written claim on the app with her image which eventually made its way to other social media apps. Cornett is reportedly considering legal action against ESPN's Pat McAfee for talking about the story. "This has affected me in such an awful way and has practically ruined my life," Cornett said. "[McAfee] never once reached out to ask me if this was true or for me to give any sort of statement to him." "I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that an ESPN sports broadcaster would be talking about a 19-year-old girl’s 's*x scandal' that was completely false."
