Went outside for a walk an hour ago and saw this cute dog running down the road in distress. No collar. No identification. Scared as hell and shaking. Honestly, it looks like an abused dog. I chased her out of the road, she tried to bite me and wouldn’t let me put a leash on her for like 30 min, but now she’s calming down and she’s inside my place (hope she doesn’t have fleas…oh well!) Going to try to find her a home and get her some medical attention. Poor thing. She looks so scared. One thing you should all know about me is that I am a total sucker for stray dogs. Never met a stray dog I didn’t stop to help. Wish I had my own animal rescue so I could live my life in peace with animals. I pray this dog can find a good home and that she’s only scared and not seriously ill or injured so she can enjoy the rest of her life with a loving owner. For now, she’s staying with me. Going to have her brought to a no kill shelter so they can give her some medical care and a bath.

This tiny New York City apartment, 80 x 150, goes for $650 a month! 🤯 She has no oven and her bed is up a ladder and there is about two to three feet of space from the bed to the ceiling. Her bathroom is actually outside the apartment down the hall. She has to walk past her neighbors to get to it. She goes up on the roof outside to get some space, do some work and maybe a little yoga. But get this, she has a dog! She said she sometimes leaves the dog in the apartment or she takes him to daycare. 🤔 I could not live like that. I could not sleep like that and I could not shower like that. And, I could not have a dog in such a small space. Many, many people said that she should not have a dog and should not be allowed to have a dog in such a tiny apartment. Do you think it is cruel to have the dog with her? Or , do you think that if the dog is getting love and fed, cares for and taken out, that’s her business? Have you ever seen a smaller apartment than this? Could you ever live like this?

It’s over 33 Celsius / 92 Fahrenheit at the moment in Thailand which makes it unbearable for some of the street dogs with long hair. I spotted this old girl a few days ago in a different area to where I normally feed and I could see she was in agony. Just moving 10-20 yards was painful for her. As well as the overgrown fur it was mixed in with sharp pines and big matted clumps on her ears and right into her mouth. As well as that as we started to shave her we could see 100s of ticks and fleas. The amount of pain this girl must have been in is hard to imagine. It took about 2 hours to clean her up and hand pick ever tick out of her. She also got a full health check up and a lovely little bandana to send her on her way back to the safe place where she lives. We do lots of bigger way more impactful stuff than this with dogs at scale but sometimes just changing the world for one dog makes all the difference. It feels just as nice for us seeing the dog pain free as it does for the dog. I can only imagine how nice she feels tonight. Just this morning she was invisible to the world and miserable but tonight she’ll sleep well 🥰🙏

It took this woman 3 long weeks to earn this baby’s trust. She was staying in a gated grass area near her job and one day her co-worker noticed a puppy but when they tried to get close it would run away. She zoomed in with her camera and noticed it wasn't a puppy. She believes she could be a Chiweenie. She called the shelter and asked for their help to catch her before the rain and they told her that if she couldn't catch her then neither would they because they "can't make magic happen" 🙄, so she kept trying to gain her trust every day with food. It worked. She took her to a warm safe place with lots of food and lots of love. This beautiful baby is being adopted now. How many of us would spend weeks trying to rescue a dog? That poor little girl was all alone in this big old world but soon she will have her forever home thanks to this wonderful woman who cared enough to take the time to rescue her. ❤️

🚛 She was scared by a truck and fell off a bridge where she got stuck for days. Locals alerted us and we managed to save her. 😟 Bridget has been terrified for 2 months. With very poor eyesight she finds human touch very hard. She also avoided all the other dogs. She mostly spent her time alone in corners hiding. ⏰ We had to put in about 100 man hours to build her confidence back up. She had to be as brave as we were patient. 🏡 We’ve seen some signs lately she is coming out of her shell. She moved into the little play house as her own. That was a huge step for her. We also see her tail wagging. ❤️ The biggest surprise this morning was seeing her sharing the bamboo hut with Tofu. He’s the same as her with poor eyesight and a frail old body. They could have chosen anywhere else to spend the night and they normally do so away from all other dogs. But last night they let their guard down and found great comfort in each other. I can explain how proud I am of little Bridget. I look forward to seeing her get more and more relaxed and her relationship with tofu blossom ❤️

This woman was at a light when she noticed a black Porsche honking and pointing at her while looking at a white U-Haul van directly behind her. She didn’t think anything of it at first but couldn’t help but notice she was being followed, the police stations were too far and she panicked. She immediately drove to a busy area which was her local Costco. She decided to waste time while walking around Costco for over half an hour. When she came out she still saw the van driving up and down the parking lot while looking for her car. She waited until she didn’t see the van anymore and hurried up and left while calling 9-1-1. While she can’t prove that they were up to something, it couldn’t have been a coincidence that the were following her. I also don’t understand the point of leaving her car while they were following her, I know she felt safe inside but she wouldn’t know if they put an AirTag on her car so they could find her later right? Did she do the right thing then by running into Costco?

Britney Spears is our longest resident here at Happy Doggo after I rescued her 2.5 years ago. Today she was getting some big news which is remarkable considering her back story… 🔓 She was dumped in the jungle with her puppies. She was incredibly vicious. We think she could have been used for fighting 🦷 She bit 2 other volunteers 🏡 The only place she could stay was with me. She caused mayhem attacking snoop, Jumbo and a friend. 📅 For the first year I was pretty much the only one who could handle her. 🌴 She came to the land and had many fights with other dogs. She was learning but she kept letting herself down 🛵 I developed a system of running her which she loves. Its when she would come alive and feel free 🧍‍♂️ She expanded her circle of humans slowly and now is friends with about 20 people. She also has some dog friends. ✅ It’s been 6 months since Britney had any sort of fight or incident. She is very loving now. We are still careful but she has calmed down So after 2.5 years I promised Britney 2025 is the year she would get her own forever home. She will do great but it will need to be a very specialized home and we’ll have to do it slowly and carefully. I wouldn’t even attempt it if I didn’t think it was right but it is. Britney has finally gotten to a place where she needs to be. The land is great for her but a home is always even better. This won’t happen overnight but it will in 2025. I’ve promised her. Anybody who has followed from the start knows how big a deal this is. Also how cool is Britney’s new camera attachment. Best present ever she said 🎁

He went to film a story at the shelter… but the story found him. So this journalist went to cover a local animal shelter, right? Just another day on assignment. But then he met her, a stray dog hiding in the corner of her kennel, eyes full of fear, tail tucked tight. He crouched down, speaking softly, trying to get her to trust him. And then she did something that broke everyone’s hearts. She reached out her paw… and wouldn’t let go. Every time he tried to move, she grabbed his hand again. This is Cindy Crawford. She is a street dog that lives between a 7-11 and some restaurants. She is well known and everybody in the area feeds her. When I spotted her this morning she had given up and I had to lift her off her dangerous position with a kind Thai lady. You could quickly see that this was more serious than just an overfed dog. She’s losing all her fur and it’ll be gone in a week or two. She is riddled with parasites and she is 43kg / 90 Lbs when she should be half that at the very most. She seems to only be about 5 years old. Despite lots of locals and tourists feeding her she is clearly a very sick dog who needs special treatment. That has now started. She can hardly walk 10 yards and she had trouble standing up on her little legs. My dream is to see her running after the moped one day in the future with the other dogs full of energy. Sometimes you just meet a dog that takes your breath away. I’ve never seen a braver, cuter or more resilient girl. I let her when I was dropping little Penny into Soi Dog Foundation for her own operation. I instantly just said to myself I have to help find this girl a home. She was sliced across the legs so badly that she nearly died but the wonderful vets saved her by amputating the 2 front legs. I didn’t want to show the footage of her suffering and just instead focus on the positive. She should hate humans and be aggressive and have turned into her shell but she is the friendliest and most fun loving dog you will ever meet. Time spent in her company was an absolute joy. I left absolutely buzzing just being in her company. One of those sorts of dogs. She is very mobile on her own and has no issues with toilets or anything. She is a real little go getter and a dog so pure and full of love. It would be my absolute dream for her to reach a big enough audience where she might find someone who would take her in and give her a little place in the world to call her own. This woman reserved a ride with Lyft. When the driver showed up, he pointed to her service dog and said no, and took off. She says this happens all the time and his vest clearly says “service dog”. She suffers from seizures and has to have the dog with her at all times. Many pointed out that there is an option to select that you have an animal and someone from Lyft who picks up animals will take the reservation. But, it does cost more. But others pointed out that her dog is not a pet, it’s a service animal and by law, they cannot refuse the ride. Some stated that they would refuse the ride too because she didn’t let them know she had a dog and some drivers may have a fear of dogs or be allergic to them. So what’s the solution? 💔💔COBB COUNTY, GA💔💔💔 FROM FB: Today, while volunteering at the shelter and walking my row of dogs, I noticed a different dog in another row sitting quietly in the corner of her kennel… shaking and trying to make herself as small as possible. I looked at her kennel card and learned her name was Hazel and she had just been surrendered yesterday . 😭💔 I decided to go sit with her, hoping I could make her day just a little bit better. Little did I know… she would be the one making mine.🥹 Hazel was terrified and unsure of everyone around her. But little by little, she found the courage to take one step… then another… until she came over, kissed my face, and reminded me just how sweet she truly is. I later learned that Hazel was surrendered because the family cat repeatedly attacked her. 🥺 And through no fault of her own, she lost the only home she knew. Hazel is only 2 years old. She’s dog-friendly, good with kids, housebroken, and crate-trained. She has so much love to give, yet tonight she’s sleeping in a shelter kennel instead of a home. I spent a long time with her today, holding her close and reminding her that she is a good girl… that she is loved, that she is seen, and that someone still cares about her. Before I closed her kennel door, I made Hazel a promise.. I promised her I would share her story with the world. And I told her that I have an incredible village of people who always show up when a dog needs them most. Now I’m asking that village for one more favor. Something has to change. After operating all day and doing two DIEP flap cases, I saw a woman who had driven hours across Texas to get help. She has a history of breast cancer, had implant reconstruction, and had radiation on one side. And we know this, radiation and implants don’t mix. She developed signs of infection. Her incisions opened, fluid was draining, and she went to an ER and even called her plastic surgeon for help. The surgeon who initially performed her reconstruction told her, “I don’t take your insurance anymore.” She continued working and looking for help while the infection got worse. Because her insurance reimburses so poorly, she couldn’t find someone to operate on her. Eventually, she made it to our practice where we took care of her. Our plan is to treat the infection and then perform a flap reconstruction so she can finally heal. It’s a privilege to have her trust and to take care of her. But I want to say this clearly: This level of heroic effort is not the answer longterm. We need a sustainable system that is applying pressures in the right direction. And we need to agree on what healthcare services should be available to all Americans.

My neighbor always walks the dog at all hours of the day, rain or shine. She has a huge dog she can’t control, it actually walks her most of the time. This guy here has no excuse letting his dog on a leash get away, that thing is tiny. Yet he thinks it’s the man’s fault that his dog got nudged. What would you do if your neighbors dog got loose and they blamed your dog reacting to it, he needs to get his dog under control and get a life. Anyways, the neighbor with the big dog was walking her dog and it got away from her and ran into the street. Another neighbor was coming home from work and didn’t have time to react to it, she ended up hitting the dog causing a good amount of damage to her car and scuffing up the dog pretty good. The lady walking her dog had a fit of course and blamed the neighbor for hitting her dog. The neighbor retorted that she wouldn’t have hit it if the lady had it under control and isn’t run into the street. The lady ended up calling the cops, the cops came and cleared the neighbor of wrong doing. There were plenty of witnesses that saw it and we all see the dog pulling her all the time anyways. After the accident we didn’t see the lady walking her dog much anymore, her oldest son would do it most of the time to his annoyance but it was a better thing, he could control it where as his mother could not. I didn’t want to involve myself in their argument but I did tell the lady it was her fault, and that she needs to pay for the other neighbors car. Up until that point she was refusing to cooperate much. I never did ask if she paid but I have a feeling she did, the neighbor can be quite convincing when she needs to be.

Sharing for Emmie. What a beautiful dog . The ending is so heartbreaking. It’s a little longer but worth it. “…….on January 22, 2026, our 7 year old golden retriever with terminal cancer woke up and couldn't walk. After bringing her to the vet, we got the call that she wouldn't live to see the next morning and at best, we had hours. There was so much pressure to determine how we would spend these last hours. Perry's Steak House in Short Pump, Virginia invited Emmie to dinner for her last meal and an incredible experience. She had a line of people to pet her and love on her from employees to strangers and even the head chef. She ate the best food one could eat like steak, her very own custom cake, a bone and even chocolate that was flombayed in front of her. She had her own sparkling water, server and a beautiful spot by the fire. She enjoyed a stunning sunset, a brand new bed and blanket that they allowed us to bring in. She had an honor walk through the restaurant. The last time she walked on this earth. This was beyond what we ever could have imagined. The reservation was even under her name. Instead of tears, staring at her just waiting for her to pass, her last hours were spent happy, joyful and with so much love. We are grateful to the staff and management at Perry's for not only providing these memories for us but for putting it together so last minute and being beyond incredibly patient with all of our needs as Emmie continued to decline even within just the small amount of time that we were there. We will treasure these last moments that we were given and remember them with joy in our hearts. Just 40 minutes after we left the restaurant, Emmie passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family and her favorite cat. Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces, but we simultaneously feel immense peace and gratefulness in our hearts that her last moments were given to her and our family like this. Thank you Perry's for giving our girl the sweetest most special send off to heaven.” This is the second time I’ve heard of Perry’s Steakhouse doing this.
