Today another exhausted soul arrived at our sanctuary. This elderly donkey came to us skin and bones, her fragile body showing the cost of a lifetime of hard labour. Every bone is visible. Her body is weak, her coat neglected, and her strength almost gone. Her nose carries deep rope scars — painful marks left by years of being controlled with tight ropes. The other day we rescued 4 donkeys… Nova was one of them. ❤️ Thanks to amazing supporters like you, we managed to cover her long transport journey from another city and finally bring her home safely after travelling all day. Nova is pregnant… and her condition is heartbreaking. Her leg is severely infected and her hoof is almost completely gone. The damage is so deep that it may never regrow properly. Because she is carrying a baby, we have to be extremely careful with every treatment, every medicine, and every step of her care. But despite everything she has suffered… there is still hope and comfort in her eyes. She is so gentle, so loving, and finally safe under our care. All 4 rescued donkeys are in extremely critical condition and will need very long treatment and care. Something has to change. After operating all day and doing two DIEP flap cases, I saw a woman who had driven hours across Texas to get help. She has a history of breast cancer, had implant reconstruction, and had radiation on one side. And we know this, radiation and implants don’t mix. She developed signs of infection. Her incisions opened, fluid was draining, and she went to an ER and even called her plastic surgeon for help. The surgeon who initially performed her reconstruction told her, “I don’t take your insurance anymore.” She continued working and looking for help while the infection got worse. Because her insurance reimburses so poorly, she couldn’t find someone to operate on her. Eventually, she made it to our practice where we took care of her. Our plan is to treat the infection and then perform a flap reconstruction so she can finally heal. It’s a privilege to have her trust and to take care of her. But I want to say this clearly: This level of heroic effort is not the answer longterm. We need a sustainable system that is applying pressures in the right direction. And we need to agree on what healthcare services should be available to all Americans.

I had to help her with her Thai vocabs, and I was always fussing over her and taking care of her. we’ve been working together for many years now—this is our 5th… 🪽: 6th year. 🌷: 6th together, which is a really long time. I can see how much she’s matured. these days, I don’t have to teach her anymore. she’s also incredibly patient. even when she’s sick, we still have to film every day. I always asked her, “Are you okay?” I keep checking on her, and she always replied, “I’m fine, phi.”Earlier, when she coughed, that was a real cough in the scene. I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. From misery… to a miracle 🤍 Honey came to us in May… pregnant, but we didn’t even know. She had lived a life of pain… carrying heavy loads… beaten… suffering in silence. I still remember those scenes… and it makes me shiver to think what her pregnancy could have been. But here… she was treated like a queen. Loved. Protected. Cared for every single day. 💔❤️Poor, brave Alice gave birth to 11 tiny puppies 💔 After 24 exhausting hours in labour, she went through so much. We had to rush her to the emergency vet, where she needed three injections just to help her through. The toll on her little, fragile body has been heartbreaking, she’s only a baby herself. 💔 Out of the 11 puppies, one sadly didn’t make it. Our hearts are with that little soul 💔 But the others are doing well, and Alice is finally resting, though she’s completely exhausted. We’re feeding her every couple of hours to help rebuild her strength and give her the care she so desperately needs. 💔💔💔RIP Patricia (Patty) 💔💔💔 Today, with the heaviest of hearts, we say goodbye to Patricia. Despite every effort from our team and the incredible vets and nurses at UCD Veterinary Hospital, her body could no longer fight. Her liver failed, her organs began to shut down… and we lost her. This video was taken yesterday evening 💔💔💔🥲🥲🥲 Patricia didn’t deserve this. She was rescued on St. Patrick’s Day in a horrific state, emaciated, injured, her hooves in bits, her body marked, and an embedded head collar that made it hard for her to even breathe. What she endured was not just neglect…it was cruelty 💔😡 And someone is responsible. This cannot keep happening. Animals like Patricia are suffering in silence, and too often, those responsible face no consequences. That has to change. But in her final days, Patricia knew something different. She knew care. She knew kindness. She knew that a whole team was fighting for her, loving her, and refusing to give up on her. We are heartbroken. We are angry. But we are not done. We will keep fighting. I feel bad for her cause she doesn’t deserve this, nobody does.. Hollywood paparazzi are just unhinged, they don’t know boundaries!🥺 #Beckysangels #BeckyInLA As you can see Becky clearly wants to go to her fans she kept on pointing at us, she even told them that “My fans are there.” I’m glad she didn’t come to us cause we all don’t want her to get hurt, we were already screaming to leave her alone.🥺 On the other hand, My heart is so full of Love! The way how she show her love for her fans, she even mouthed “Sorry” to us, sorry that she can’t come near, sorry that we waited and we didn’t get a proper goodbye to each other.. She even tried to say bye a couple of times even under chaos, who does that? We love you, your kindness & sweetness is too much, we don’t deserve it! I hope you were ok after last night and hope you get to enjoy more of the beauty of LA. Love you naaa.. 🫂

Pearl arrived unable to stand completely drained of strength. When I offered her an apple, she didn’t even recognise it. She spat it out again and again, until she finally tasted it. Something she may never have experienced before. Suddenly, she sat up. She started eating fast, searching for more. Hunger had taken everything from her — but kindness brought her back. We immediately arranged fruits and vegetables for her. Pearl is safe now. She is eating. She is no longer alone. This is why rescue matters. This is why we never give up.

This is just one story among countless others in Ukraine’s frontline villages , each one no less painful, no less heartbreaking. The evacuation team Допомога нації (Help to the Nation), shared this video with the message: "Grandmother lives in one of the villages in the Zaporizhzhia region. We visited her often, bringing food and water. She has a lot of livestock, including a cow. Now her village is very close to the front line, and she needs to evacuate. At first, she agreed, but then she changed her mind. However, we are not losing hope and believe that she will eventually leave that dangerous village. Evacuate in time! Evacuation saves lives" She is actually ready to face death in her home , all what she earned her whole life, surrounded by what she cherishes, with her animals. These are the silent tragedies: not only the bombs, but impossible choice like that. May she be safe and protected, whatever the decision she will take.
