My grandmother found out I didn’t know my address when my class was sending letters to Santa when I was in Kindergarten… she sat my lil ass at the table for what seemed like a 48 hour course on how to format an address to send a letter. 😂😂😂 i learned tho

Calling children dumb is so nasty 😒 It’s obvious this issue is vastly bigger than teachers and parents, alone. Something in society has re-wired these babies’ minds. Across all demographics, cognitive function is in decline. That is a SYSTEMIC issue, not an individual one.

When I was in school I always heard the adults say "It starts at home" Education, basic knowledge starts at home, also bad behaviors start at home. The parents these days aren't parenting.

When I was a freshman in college , you had to read out loud during the class if you were selected by the teacher. This student in my class was called to reach in English 101 , he was sounding out words in college, he couldn’t read at a middle school level. It’s all true …

I think part of it is that we've undervalued standard knowledge and now it's "just look it up online" also way too many screens now

this is true. I knew someone whose friends moved to NJ because the kid was afraid of the exam. you could not graduate without it. and they should not get rid of it.
