German Paster said, “ First they came for the Communists, I didn’t speak out, I wasn’t a Communist, then they came for the Jews, I didn’t speak out, I wasn’t a Jew, they then came for me, and there was no one to speak for me.”

Brilliant

Canadians need to take this class

Maybe, they do 😀

Very good video. Good lecturer.

Yeah...a very good one

That's the world we already live in.

Yeah

There are a number of reasons why a young student starting a course won't speak up. They are afraid. Stuff gets recorded by universities and other institutions and can come back to affect you later. Where you aggressive in your protest? Did you know the background situation?

There are lots of factors to consider here

Everyone says, “I would never.” History says otherwise. Ordinary Men commit harm by drift and consent. The antidote is disciplined principle: fixed lines, daily practice, small refusals. And we start with the room we are in.

Canadian citizens need to watch this every morning.

Si iustitiam amas, orbem iudicare potes.

Incredible lesson 😍

Well, it's a good lesson, but somewhat simplistic. I think If I were in that situation in a real life, I wouldn't have said anything because I would be afraid to not know the full context, and that it's true in most of the cases in real life.

Not really, a lot of those students would just go complain to the dean after class.

It was normal for the students to react that way, because they probably felt it was something that could be easily handled instead of escalating it right there. Everything is all about applying wisdom.

💥💯

Brilliant

This is a shitty lecture. Laws aren't about justice. Can anyone tell me why? 🙄

Totally agree... Laws are designed first to maintain order and stability, not to deliver pure justice. They draw clear lines so society doesn’t descend into chaos, even if that means ignoring individual pain, context, or moral nuance

Exactly... Justice is subjective. Laws should be neutral and applied to all.

Yeah

Powerful, experiential learning technique. Also, ref. "Bystander Effect".

I understood it 1000%!

Law is about power and control and protecting the existing rights of the already powerful. Law as an arbitrary exercise of power is completely within that paradigm.

Propaganda

Is this from a movie?

@grok what is this from?
