You really don't have to choose one over the other otherwise you will create a different kind of problem in the child. The key is balance. Balance is tricky, because it's not a one size fits all. Hence you find some things that work in one family, not being useful in the other.

I think this stems from the young age when we are being groomed. It’s always you need to learn how to cook, clean, obedient etc to become a good wife. Then when the woman come over post pre wedding day, most of their advice’s is about how to make the man happy and to create a household conducive for all. They hardly ever talk about the woman still maintaining to be herself and not neglect herself. Maybe we need to start there to change the mindset
