That card is just designed to get the promotional price. But the same principle existed before the card was implemented. Shoprite just added another step, not another benefit.

The purpose of those cards is data mining, how do you get consume data without asking everyone to “ please fill in this survey online ” ….. yes , you get discounts & specials that are on the basis of their own analytical and pricing strategy

Clicks also give cash back . The ones that don't give cash back but have loyalty cards are scams

The worst is @Clicks_SA. Been buying and paying petrol at Engine garage for over nearly 4 years but I have R35 💔

Hai nam I don’t get it Before if there is special at checkers or shoprite,you just take whatever its on special then automatically at the till price will reduce so whats the card for or made for? At at Pick n Pay you earn some points that u can use to purchase items in future.

Pick n pay offers so much more, besides earning points to use on ur next shop, on their pnp asap app u get personalized vouchers based on your purchases Then with ShopRite Xtra saving card if u spend R450 or more n swiping the card when purchasin u get free funeral cover R4500

Also their Xtra saving song make any difference if we can compare it to Dischem’s Xtra saving/special. When @Dischem says something is on special it’s really on special. They must learn a thing or 2 kwa dischem or @PicknPay sana

The purpose of that card is purely Data Mining I use my Grandmother’s card every time I shop and it’s never promotions just the price it was supposed to be in the first place, these companies lose stock they can’t afford low prices and must manage costs

It says "extra savings" not "rewards" card for a reason

They force you to get the card to have your data that's all.... Discounts used to be there without the card now you don't get the discounts unless you have a card.

They’re all useless including those promising cash backs. Discounted sales have always been there for ages without taking any cards. It’s now a marketing strategy meant to deceive customers. Checkers will argue that the money back remains in your account instead of the card.

Their reward system is with discounts. PnP does both though.

Checkers already way cheaper than pnp.. the pnp cashback is a scam

It's discount card. Same as @Dischem and there they have an alliance with @CapitecBankSA Dischem is for capitec customers only.

Checkers uses rewards system like Woolies and Spar amongst others. Methinks Dischem [stand to be corrected] also moved to rewards.

That’s a very good question. We all mostly buy from Checkers and that Xtra savings card is basically just for if they have a discount on an item not like PnP who also have discounts and then the money back awards.
