especially the phrase open air prison because it gets used a LOT even by people with good intentions but she’s right it carries a lot of weight

she speaks more on copywriting/journalism in the full thing it’s really interesting and important to be aware of

@femmelian not to mention trying to "evacuate" a million people who's water, food, and electricity you've cut off who also have no where else to go is just evil.

@MrJAntoine It’s called doublespeak, politicians do it, journalist do it everyday, that’s why they “Israelis are killed” but “Palestinians are dead”

@nameshiv People think 1.1 million people isn’t a lot, as well - until you say “ok, how about we evacuate the entire population of San Francisco, Dallas, or San Antonio overnight. Without infrastructure or assistance.” THEN their jaws drop.

@KennieJD Never has it been more important to reiterate that WORDS MEAN THINGS. The words you use have a huge fucking impact on what you're communicating. Call things what they are! Unflinchingly. We need journalists to have integrity and be uncompromising in their telling of events.

Thank you for sharing pal!!

ahh thank you so much for your work it’s so important and impactful

Like it’s not an evacuation. It’s a death march

Anyone who has lived on the US Gulf coast can tell you how ridiculous "one day to evacuate one million people" is.
