RSD is so misunderstood. people think its just being sensitive but the intensity of that rejection response is genuinely different. its not a personality trait, its a nervous system thing. took me years to stop blaming myself for it

This is real. Not weakness…more like a hair-trigger nervous system. You feel things fast and deep, especially perceived rejection. Took me a long time to realize not everything that feels like rejection actually is.

RSD hit different when you don't even have a name for it yet You just think you're "too sensitive" your whole life 😭

An ADHD diagnosis should come with a mental-hack guide explaining why symptom x,y,z happens. Knowing why is half the battle. Neurotypical brains naturally process emotion and logic in parallel, but ADHD brains feel the emotion first and then logic. That lag creates a window where you can either run with the emotion or you can attempt to manage it by using mental hacks that slow down and reframe it.. Basically, gaslight yourself into a logical frame of mind and then make your conclusion.

I get physical reactions to it too, stomach hurting and feeling like I’m going to pass out from dizziness.

Labels like RSD can be helpful for self-awareness, but using them to avoid accountability for negative behaviors is exactly why so many people are skeptical of these 'trends.' Having a different emotional baseline doesn't exempt anyone from the standard of basic accountability.

I dealt with this so much growing up as an adolescent before I was even diagnosed with adhd. And I only recently realized I had RSD a few years ago. This entire time I just thought I was too sensitive. It was a real struggle, but I’m managing those feelings so well now.

If you have Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), it means that you don't have ADHD; you have autism and are experiencing the overwhelm and trauma of being undiagnosed ASD.

RSD - when a member of the executive where you teach suggests you should train for being a psychologist and you automatically think they think you’re not a good teacher and want to get you out of teaching??? (I do have fantastic pastoral care skills).

She does a good job. Fear of rejection is an effective manipulator - it can stop someone living their life to the fullest. The expectation of shame is such a powerful demotivator. Mixed in with my ASD it makes navigating real life difficult as well trying not to be ‘wrong’.

I got the job that I have a year ago and after the first three days I realized how much I really loved it but this fear of loosing it to soon or being rejected or bullied or iced out like the many times I have had happen to me brought me to my knees with grief and it's visceral

Your ADHD isn't a discipline problem. It's a fuel problem. Most systems run on importance. Your brain runs on something completely different — and nobody told you. (15 pages that finally explain why)
