I’m not at all a person that believes in giving kids iPads, but it’s very obvious her parenting led to this. I know plenty kids you can take a tablet from without this level of a meltdown.

I read online this week a teacher talking about kindergarteners not knowing how to turn the pages of a book, but trying to swipe instead. There is a generation of kids being raised without an attention span.

Instead of playing this game with them, you need to create an instant hard reset. This action in the video just perpetuates this chaos. You separate the child from this scene, take them into a separate space however necessary, make it clear that they can only leave that space when they calm down and are ready to be back, if they try leaving early (which they will) you immediately put them back in that space over and over again, until they stay, calming themselves down thinking about it, then they eventually come out reset. Doing this changes the repetitive topic of chaos going on here from the tablet to them wanting to be reintegrated into normal daily activity, joining back with everyone else. It quells the chaos and allows them to calm down and make a decision they have control over, joining back with everyone else when they are ready giving them “control” back.
