My friend did this in high school, jumped out of her car and threw her keys in her backyard field. She got tackled and went to county for the weekend.

As kids, too young to get licenses, we all rode minibikes and motorcycles through huge empty tracks of undeveloped land. We had to ride on streets through developed neighborhoods, to and from. We were regularly chased by police, of course. One afternoon the police had a plan. They set up several units to catch us right as we exited the trails and hit pavement. Then a motorcycle unit came after us, and the chase was on. It was epic. We separated from the group and my friend Chris and I made it to Chris' street. We turned the corner, police were a little behind so they didn't have visual contact as we raced down his street and turned into his driveway, then skidded into the garage where we'd left the garage door open. We jumped off the bikes, pulled the garage door shut, and ran into his house. We heard the cops pulling into the driveway and then knocking on the door. Chris' mother hadn't seen us come in, and went to answer the door. We made it into Chris' room. We just knew we were going to jail. Then we're in Chris' bedroom and he throws me a pair of swim trunks, and says, "here, put these on," as he rips off his clothes. We're pulling on swim trunks as we runjumpstumble out through a sliding glass door from his parents bedroom and into the backyard. I'm right behind him. We fall into their swimming pool and try to look relaxed. Chris' mom leads the cops through the living room and into the backyard, saying, "Oh, here they are. They're in the pool." The cops were pissed... "Is there a problem, mom?" Chris asked.
