That's the kind of system they have. They needed care workers, their Universities needed funding and their governments needed more revenue. They simply integrated you guys into their system.

They do not have a plan that you would continue living in their country, they do not expect you to continue living and working in their country. Come to their country, study, get your degree and any added advantage (post study work) you could get, and leave their country, that is the initial and agreed plan. That is why they ask you during visa interview that what would you be doing after your studies and would you return to your home country. We all should not pretend like we don’t know.

Honestly, I’m shocked she doesn’t get it. You don’t need an MSc to do those jobs but you needed to run an MSc to get into the country. The MSc wasn’t a promise of jobs, it was a VISA to get you into the country. There’s no fault or problem. It’s working exactly as intended

She is in the cycle but doesn't understand it. The Msc she had was her ticket into the Country (for the time being), the job she will do after the program is based on what the Country needs at that particular period not on what she studied. It isn't all or none principle.

She sounds like she was ignorant of the realities. No one that left Nigeria to do masters of recent went out for the love of the game, they left for survival and a better life. The masters was only a means to an end then the hustle begins. I hope it all works well for her

Experience beats any form of certificate in the UK. I’m talking from experience. I don’t even have any education certificate but I work in Education.

Education in the west for foreigners is to generate revenue for the country , they don’t want the general foreigners to take over the citizens job so get your certificate and come back to your country since you choose to go there or be independent and make something for yourself, create value for yourself or accept the faith of the system.

It all starts from the course of study and experience back home. Your MSc course is not relevant to the jobs available. Employment is not given by virtue of an MSc; it is about what you can offer and your experiences. If you lack these things, no one will offer you the job of your dreams. It is not rocket science.

I don’t know she’s pretending not to understand why. You were never guaranteed a job after your studies. You were only asked to come in and school, that’s all … anything after that is not a right but a privilege, including the post study. More so, it’s not like people cannot work with their certificate, it’s just that the uk government has done it in such a way that you’ll hardly get sponsorship doing that your dream job because of the high salary threshold - except for a very very few lucky ones. If you manage to stay in the country until you get your ILR/Citizenship however , you’d see that your certificate will be useful at that point as you’d have no salary threshold to worry about.

Save for a few programmes and schools, UK master's degrees aren't in much demand among employers. Skills and experience will get you a job more than an MSc from a second- or third-rate university. That said, many immigrants are doing great in professional jobs, so keep trying.

Lol! The MSc is your gateway. It is your Visa ticket to the country because if you’ve stayed in UK long enough, you’ll know you don’t need much education to get good jobs, experience beats education for them! Also, they study & choose the wrong courses in the aim to japa!

MSc you are doing in the UK is a form of exchange for coming into their country. Instead of taking your money just like that, they cover it up with schooling. They know it means nothing to them

Academics is saturated all over the world. If you want a job in an office, the easiest way for you to get it would be renting your own office and creating that position. Population is growing in a geometric progression and new jobs are not being created.

Your immigration expense is funds used to subsidise costs for residents and citizens. You are not the target audience for employment, you are there to spend money. Schools and visa is a government money making scheme and Africans are the victims

It's unfortunate that people rush into a master's without a reasonable skill set. Before traveling for an program in a country where you will work and attend school, you'd better stay in Nigeria and learn a demanding, higher-paying tech skill that allows you to think outside the box without being trapped in the system. The UK system is unfair to immigrants, especially West Africans, and most people don't know this before going there. If you want to be a billionaire, you shouldn't stay too long in the UK.

No to seem insensitive. But going abroad to study basic irrelevant masters in management courses was simply a japa plan. I’d rather chew jeans before I pay for any institution to award me a masters degree in an irrelevant zero skill earning certificate. In the western world, to be relevant you follow the trend thats why you see them doing trades or nursing and the likes. A paper masters in financial management and the likes gets you nowhere.

It is the country. It is a ‘Matrix’ designed that way. You are in a loop where the probabilities of your outcomes are determined. Not many options. You will need to fight ‘strategically’ to beat that design and it is no small fight. But the fight is worth it even if you lose.

Lol …hopefully Nigerians will realize that Masters abroad esp in the UK is just a big scam. It’s not designed for you to get any meaningful jobs in the UK. They are designed to extract your money. As long as you are aware of this and you then go ahead, fine. 🤷🏽😊

Please don’t got and do an MSc and think it’s an automatic passport to the best jobs. Most jobs are held by Bachelors students who now have experience in that field. Work experience >>> MSc. If you want a great job start in the graduate scheme and rise up from there. Not MSc

Have you ever asked yourself why their is a space in any form you want to fill in the western world, that asked for your ethnicity? That ethnicity question in your form made it easy for the employer to filter you out. My dear the MSC thing is to give them your hard earned £20k you just mentioned. Don't take it to heart that's how the system is designed for an immigrants we are below the food chain as an African immigrant.

Could also be because a lot of people from several countries immigrated to the UK for the same purpose that you did and there's not enough "good" jobs to absorb everyone. That's why they have other tiers of visas where you can be exceptional and get those good jobs.

You keep going to low tier universities that only need money from international students. Also many of your guys don't specialize Bsc in architecture, masters in information technology You do care job..don't ever expect to work in finance because you got a msc in finance

Here is a comprehensive answer my dear: 1. Their school need the funds you pay and you guys are just customers. They expect you to go back to your father's house after studies. They don't really need you to work in their country as graduates. 2. They need you guys more in the care sector for their grandmas and grandpas. Care is an industry in the UK, it's like what crude oil is to Nigeria. You are the ones that allow them do their jobs and live their dreams by looking after their loved ones. Now to help you: 3. Most employers don't really care about your certificate, they care more about your experience. The same courses you are studying for, paying hard earned money for, their children have been training for it since high school through apprenticeship. By the time they are 20 they have already become masters in the field with practical experience. So, you can only match them with equal experience not certificate. 4. Their NVQs most times carry more weight than the MSC you came to study. It is better you find your way in and do their NVQ programs for the specific field you want to get in. Volunteering will even open more doors than your MSC. Jara: most times it's about packaging yourself, presenting the great CV with relevant experiences(look for it somehow) and make sure you get the interviews where you also come up with the stories(cook it somehow). Trust me they will train you and you will do the job and you will be fine. Just get in.

Because you’re not a citizen of this country, I believe those jobs should be reserved for citizens until you obtain your Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). If you feel healthcare in the UK isn’t right for you at the moment, then perhaps you should return to Nigeria and pursue a job of your dream , you guys should stop this please

This is 2026 (almost 2027). The world has moved past using degrees (including MSc) to help you get better job opportunities. If you don't have practical in-demand skills that solves a real problem, then your MSc (even from UK or Canada) won't get you a high paying job. #FACT

My sister MSc is not the problem. The UK system believe so much in apprenticeships that majority of them go through it. To get job, do UK certifications I applied for over 200jobs, did 10 interviews and finally got 1 job.

Contrary, my experience have been different , graduated MSc data science few months ago, and I’ve got handful of companies interested in me . Well I didn’t just study, I built projects and had a portfolio. All interviews I’ve had are impressed . It comes down to “ Who are you?”

I have some few questions: What is your definition of a “proper job”? What did you study in MSc? The fact that you have certificate doesn’t qualify you to be gainfully employed. A report was recently published by Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity which provided some key findings on these. Don’t just go and spend money to do your masters degree just because you want to do masters. You must identify which specialization or field that can position you for higher returns. Also, in foreign countries, a lot of other factors can affect your opportunities.

No matter what, you have better opportunities now in the UK and internationally than you did back in Nigeria. Its tough but don't give up. Explore your opportunities, secure your stay, get information, certifications etc. Keep building. I'm rooting for you 💐

It starts with what experience/ certifications you had back at home. The course you did, is it a shortage occupation course. How do you survive during the waiting period to get your dream. Do you have money saved or support to stay through to your dreams.

MSc in UK is not really it tbh. More like a waste of funds. I wonder why a country does not prioritise a cert from its own university. I wouldn't advise anybody RN to go for their 10months Msc and start looking for jobs and COS. crazy!
