For the longest time 30+ family and friends chipped in to a private company and we could always fly that way. I never really flew commercial too much, only a handful of times. I never liked it. I hate the crowds, I hate waiting for my bags. Some people can be always unruly. The worst for me is when I had to sit by someone who would always give the attendant a hard time, treating them like a personal assistant, barking orders at them and admonishing them for what they consider substandard service. This woman sitting across the aisle from me thought she was at an all inclusive buffet. She would say “excuse me miss” as a way of getting their attention and she always used a fake sugary sweet voice and was acting polite but I could tell it wasn’t authentic, it was a way to demean the workers. She made the poor attendant kept going back and forth and getting her refills even though she was serving somebody else. She would repeatedly ask for snacks and seconds when the meal was served. I have no idea why they complied but they did. Most of us were just sitting there watching and waiting for the attendant to snap, but she was professional the whole time. This was at a time where most people weren’t going to embarrass themselves making a scene because the people who treat them like this are used to the attention, it’s almost as if they are picking a fight intentionally. The rest of the flight was uneventful. This was a long flight to Asia for me, I think the attendant knew if she angered the woman, she would then become even more difficult so she just took it. I would have cut her off a long time before she started taking advantage.

This woman is being accused of being rude by the worker, to me I think the worker was rude. She’s trying to return something without the packaging and was denied without it. So she went and bought another one and used that packaging to return the old one. She always had the receipt she just didn’t have the package. Either way she’s left with another item she didn’t need or return. I recall when I was at the pizza shop and a customer gave us the wrong address by mistake. She was babysitting and wanted pizza delivered to the customers house instead. I get a call from our driver saying he couldn’t find it, so I call her back and said that the driver couldn’t find the address, it didn’t even exist on gps. She argues with me how the home has been there for over 80 years and that my driver was too stupid to find it. I couldn’t find it on my Apple Maps either and asked her to double check the address. She told us the house number was 869 and it was actually 896. So after that I call my driver and he delivers it. Not even 5 minutes later she calls back complaining her food was cold. I told her it’s cold likely because the driver took a long time trying to find an address that didn’t exist. So once again she gets all belligerent. I refused to remake it or refund it based on her mistake and she claims I just lost a life long customer. Was I wrong for that, would you have remade it? Maybe I would have as a courtesy if she was cool about it but she wasn’t especially since it was her mistake. I usually don’t do anything unless we messed up.

I just got the sad news that my Grandma Roz passed away at the age of 94. A Brownsville native, my grandmother was one of the first women to graduate from Brooklyn College with a degree in Chemistry. She was born to two very sick parents who both died while she was very young. My grandmother was a picky eater growing up and she never let me forget it. She introduced new food to me and when I fussed, she said “don’t say you don’t like something until you try it.” In fact, my first memory was her feeding me slices of cheese. I’m sure she just wanted me to be healthy, but it taught me a deeper lesson. That small value, helped me develop an open mind, not just for food, but everything in life. She taught me how to cross the streets in New York. One time, I got so frustrated that my grandma made me hold her hand, I ran off into the middle of the street with cars passing. When she rescued me 😂 she yelled at me and my credit score was dead on arrival ever since. My grandma spoke as a matter of fact. Confidently. She challenged me every step of my maturity. That helped me not only believe in myself but understand that along the way, I would have to put up as well. Even when you achieve something? It’s not enough. There’s still work to put in and a level to reach. With all her grandchildren, Grandma Roz would mark their height. Every visit, I’d see my growth. Through my younger cousins, I saw the evolution of her commitment to raising our family. I always respected that. My grandma once went to the Queens public library at flushing and picked me up a VHS of He Got Game. She tossed the case on the tv stand in my room and said “watch it, there’s nudity in it” 😂 When I was a teen, She would often have a secret non alcoholic beer with me… it was her way of being dangerous and I always got a kick out of it. As I got older, my car rides to NY always stopped at my grandma’s house in flushing. She would treat me the same way from when I was a kid. Treating an hour ride from Jersey as a “long ride you must be starving” taking out a piece of toast and offering a “little margarine” in her Brooklyn accent. At night, coming to my room with extra pillows, which she never called pillows, but “cushions” As a kid, my grandma would wake me up every morning singing Irving Berlin’s “Oh, How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning” I learned to enjoy the song because splashing water would come after. Something about that song. It’s so perfect. It’s so spiritual. I always imagined myself signing it at her funeral. I don’t know if I will, but now she won’t have to wake up every morning. She will get to sleep. With the eternal. Im forever grateful for such an amazing matriarch that I would have NOTHING without. I’m sad, broken, but she lived a long life and I know how blessed she was to make it a full century’s worth on this earth. My last experience with her was last week, she wouldn’t take her medicine. I just came up to her, put the pills in my hand and gave it to her. She took it. She grabbed my hand and kissed it. I’m so thankful to my mom, the healthcare workers, for allowing me to have a moment like that. Rest in Peace, Roslind Dorwitt aka Grandma Roz, or as our family called her… The Wizard of ROZ. ❤️

Orm Kornnaphat spent her early years hesitating about how to begin a story with Lingling Kwong: "I was scared because she was a quiet person. She looked reserved and hard to approach. If I did this or that, I didn't know whether she would be annoyed." Orm Kornnaphat spent 5 years without a single project together with her, without interactions, without being close, without seeing each other for entire years, without even the slightest point of connection. And then, look at what she did for Lingling Kwong: - Every year on her birthday, there would always be a birthday wish "Happy birthday P'Ling". Simple, nothing more and nothing less. - Every anniversary of channel 3, she would invite her to eat together. - She would go all the way to her younger brother's restaurant, even though food wasn't really her favorite and the trip was far, just simply because she wanted to "support a colleague"? A colleague who wouldn't even hear about that thoughtfulness directly until years later? - She would pray and make promises of offerings, just for the chance to act alongside that colleague. Do you really put that much heart into a colleague? She had no idea how TSOU would turn out. It could have been just another project, merely an experimental series for CH3. Nothing was tailor made to guarantee success. Nobody expected it to become what it is today. For a project like that, the thing she wished for was simply the opportunity to act with Lingling Kwong. Orm Kornnaphat spent 2 months filming with her and several more months where seeing her one extra day felt special. And look at how much she treasured this relationship: - On the last day of filming, she was the one who said "I don't know when I'll get to see P'Ling again." - She prayed for 1 project together and asked for nothing more. That alone made her happy. - Even during promotional activities before the series aired, when the person she had wished to work with said "Orm is still young, she will have many chances to meet more people in her life." Orm Kornnaphat didn't automatically accept that as truth "Don't go anywhere too soon, okay?" - Even when TSOU was becoming popular and the series was at the height of its success, she never took it for granted that Lingling would always be there. Her wish remained simple:"Please don't disappear too soon." Orm Kornnaphat didn't get to this point in a day or two. It took her more than 5 years to go from "I don't know if she'll be annoyed" to "that person is going to scold me again." Every day, she observed and remembered what Lingling liked and disliked. She always wanted Lingling to feel as comfortable as possible. It's okay if Lingling dances a little awkwardly. It's okay if she makes mistakes. It's okay if she's having a bad day. Orm Kornnaphat will still be there. She will still say:"Lingling Kwong did great today", "Lingling Kwong kèng-mákkkk" She's not disrespectful enough to keep using a nickname if she knew Lingling disliked it. The reason she can joke like that is because Lingling allows her to. Lingling gave her that safe space to play around and tease her. So could people with no place in this relationship stop having opinions about it? It honestly looks ridiculous. She has countless ways to address her, P'Ling Lingling Kwong Ling Kwong 00K chubby P'Sao, and thousands of other nicknames. Who exactly are outsiders to police that? #LingOrm1stFMinHK 17.08.24 Lingling Kwong once said that she likes it when Orm calls her by name. Even the joke she made was: "She's clearly calling me. Why are all of you shouting?" So today, let me ask again: If she's clearly calling the person she loves, then why are all of you shouting? Take a look at yourselves for a moment. Doesn't this all seem a little ridiculous? #หลิงออม #LingOrm

Ana Kasparian unveils that she did not vote for Kamala Harris: Brandi Kruse: "You mentioned on election night, you know, people were saying you almost looked happy. You did not vote for Kamala Harris. Correct?" Ana Kasparian: "Correct." Brandi Kruse: "So why didn't you vote for Harris?" Ana Kasparian "My main issue was that she really failed to be authentic and share a vision for the future of this country. She, to me, appeared to be an empty vessel. She didn't stand for anything. I despise neo conservatives, neoconservatism. And so the fact that she was like parading around town with like Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney and talking about how honored she was to be endorsed by Dick Cheney, I was like, this is not someone who shares my values, so why would I vote for her? I'm not supposed to vote for the Democrat. I'm not going to cast my ballot for someone who has failed to make a case for herself. It really bothered me that she was anointed, that she was running a campaign, especially in the second half of her campaign, focusing on Donald Trump's alleged fascism and how he doesn't value democracy. And it's like, do you think Democrats value democracy? Because in 2016, during the primaries, we all saw what the DNC did to Bernie Sanders, preventing him from even having a shot, a real chance at beating Hillary, That's not very Democratic, if you ask me. And anointing the Democratic nominee after Biden dropped out, also not very Democratic." No intelligent woman was okay with the prospect of inept, mediocre, weak Kamala Harris becoming the first woman president.

The funniest part was not that the Chinese girl refused U.S. citizenship. It was the host’s desperation to prove that because she grew up in America, received an American education, and has family working there, she therefore owed America her highest loyalty. That was the accusation hiding beneath every question: How dare you benefit from America and still place your own country above it? Then he finally asked the question he had been circling around all along: If China and the United States went to war, which side would you choose? She barely hesitated. China. The entire room went quiet. She said: I am Chinese. China is my country. Much of my family lives there. I feel comfortable there. That answer broke him. He had never even visited China, yet kept lecturing her about “freedom,” Xinjiang, American diversity, and China supposedly being culturally homogeneous. She calmly corrected him: China is a multiethnic civilization. Northern and southern China already differ enormously, before even discussing its many ethnic groups. He kept exposing his ignorance. She kept answering without fear, apology, or the slightest need for his approval. By the end, he was so shaken that he said seeing her made him think America was “cooked.” What he failed to understand is that she was not rejecting what American education had given her. America gave her the tools of argument and inquiry. China gave her cultural roots, discipline, and the confidence to know who she was. These things do not contradict each other. They made her harder to patronize. Her family did not choose an American education so that she could surrender her identity in exchange for approval. They chose it so she could learn from another system without becoming spiritually annexed by it. She understood what America could offer—and also understood that accepting an education does not create a debt of national allegiance. That was what the host could not process. He mistook education for assimilation, opportunity for ownership, and gratitude for obedience. She embodied something he had not prepared for: Western critical thinking. Chinese cultural depth. The confidence to learn from America without worshipping it. She knew America intimately—and still understood that it was not the center of the world. The age when every foreign student was expected to treat America as humanity’s final destination is over. America is no longer the only choice. American identity is no longer the highest prize. And American approval is no longer the measure of whether a young Chinese person has succeeded.

sunoo childhood stories with his sister all soo funny🤣 🦊everyone, I also have a bit of a temper when I get angry. Seriously. No, but I’ve matured a lot. Originally.. well, I think those kinds of things happen between all family members, right? Probably? But it’s through those experiences that you actually get closer. If nothing like that ever happened, that would be truly unbelievable 🦊Suddenly, speaking of fighting stories, I just remembered a time I fought with my older sister. I think it was back in elementary school. My sister ate something of mine without asking I don’t remember the details but we ended up getting into a fight🤣 What was really funny was that when I kicked her, she didn’t even budge. She was just like, 'Ha!' But when she kicked me, I completely flew back and fell over. So, while fighting her, I just shouted, 'I surrender!' I lost🤣 🦊i’ve been thinking about my childhood a lot lately. My sister has always been strong Of course she was, she's three years older than me🤣 My sister might feel it's unfair if I only talk about my aide so let me tell another story. When I was a tiny baby I was just born and she was maybe 3 or 4 all the attention shifted to me. She used to really like me, but she got jealous because everyone was focused on me. She’d tell me to go away But here’s the reason she started to dislike me even more: when I was with her I would bite her on the back, pinch her, and scratch her. It was a mess! Also, there’s another story I just remembered. The reason I always had really short hair as a kid was because of my sister. She took a toy train (the kind with wheels) and rolled it all over my head, and my hair got so tangled in the wheels that they couldn't get it out. So my mom always had to cut my hair short🤣 too much TMI

-The Cab Ride I'll Never Forget- "Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But, I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute”, answered a frail, elderly voice. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90′s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940′s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware. ‘Would you carry my bag out to the car?’ she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. ‘It’s nothing’, I told her.. ‘I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.’ ‘Oh, you’re such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, ‘Could you drive through downtown?’ ‘It’s not the shortest way,’ I answered quickly.. ‘Oh, I don’t mind,’ she said. ‘I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice. I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. ‘I don’t have any family left,’ she continued in a soft voice..’The doctor says I don’t have very long.’ I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. ‘What route would you like me to take?’ I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, ‘I’m tired.Let’s go now’. We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. ‘How much do I owe you?’ She asked, reaching into her purse. ‘Nothing,’ I said ‘You have to make a living,’ she answered. ‘There are other passengers,’ I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.She held onto me tightly. ‘You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,’ she said. ‘Thank you.’ I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.. I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day,I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver,or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life. We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one."

VIDEO | Twisha Sharma Death Case: During a press conference, Twisha Sharma’s brother Major Harshit Sharma says, “We are here to question the process. The first call made to the police was made by us, not by them. They claimed that they were in a hurry trying to save her. However, the video that has resurfaced clearly shows Girbala Singh moving around very calmly, walking up and down the stairs as if she had all the time in the world. Being fully aware of the judicial system, she had complete access and the ability to call the police station, which was only 30 seconds away from her home. Why did she not make that call? It took us more than three days to get the FIR registered. Our FIR was finally lodged on the 15th at 2:30 in the morning. Even before that, their anticipatory bail application had already been filed. It all appears to be a well-orchestrated effort from their side. The fact that she was granted bail on the grounds that she is a 63-year-old woman of repute and considered a non-threat does not justify her actions, which clearly reflect the opposite of how she is being portrayed. A so-called ‘non-threat’ is sending people to threaten my 61-year-old father inside the court premises. A ‘non-threat’ is sending people to threaten my family, saying that 30 men would beat us up. How is a 63-year-old threatening a 61-year-old justified? Who gave her the authority to make such remarks about my deceased sister? Why are we not asking where Samarth Singh is? Why is he absconding? Why are these questions not being asked? Why are they not asking for a second post-mortem?” (Full video available on PTI Videos -
