Totally see her point. She did a handover of her role while she went on PTO. Clearly nobody actually did her job and left it for her to return to. This is not covering PTO. If you cant cover PTO dont allow PTO. The whole point of PTO is to de stress staff let them unwind. Not stress them out the minute they return to work with the weeks worth of work just left sitting there. Disgusting behaviour by the boss.

You’re a moron, ppl work on teams who can cover slack. It’s not unreasonable for there to be some catching up, but to let things go untouched because a person is gone is not right. Especially if someone has informed you that they need to be handled.

Nah fuck that boss, they didn’t do the access requests because the system was unstable? For the entire time this person was away? I bet someone escalated the access request and when the managers bosses started asking questions that’s the excuse she used to cover her own ass on why it wasn’t done. If your business tasks don’t get done when 1 team member is away then it’s a failure by the manager who is supposed to ensure everyone has a backup.

Just because people cover you while you are out doesn't mean everything will be perfect when you return. They still have their work to do as well. And your job is not their normal routine. Buckle up and get back to work. FFS.

Mr gut, it is reasonable to expect your position and workload to be managed while you are on vacation. I too would be frustrated if non of my responsibilities were taken care of in my absence. The burden of who should fill that extra work would go to manager.

You’re an idiot that’s not how it works. You’ve obviously never worked in the corporate business world. If you’re on a team you go on vacation you’re getting paid for that time off which means you’re not responsible for the work that comes in on your time off or else it wouldn’t be a vacation. This girl is totally valid when I take my PTO that’s my company time off. It’s the company’s responsibility to figure out how to make it run why I’m on vacation.
