Rockets Rookie Quadir Copeland was one of the best Two-Way players in Summer League. Copeland helped the Rockets finish with a 4-1 record where he averaged 13/4/3 and 2.6 Steals a game, while shooting 58% from the field and 55% from three on 2 attempts a game. Copeland’s mix of athleticism, defensive motor, instincts, finishing, handle, craft, and passing makes him a really intriguing player at 6’6. BREAKING: Memphis lands a commitment from Briacrest HS 2026 4⭐️ wing/F Fred Smith Jr. Fred joins fellow 4⭐️ Cello Jackson as the two Memphis commits in the 2026 class. Smith Jr. is an interesting scout. Has good handle + ball skills at his size, but lacks lateral quickness and outside shooting. Is limited size-wise in the paint but is a physical scorer at the rim. It’ll be interesting to see what position he plays and how his game translates in college. I see him more as an undersized 4 in college.

I counted at least 16 of his 35 points in the paint against Edey or directly against him from 15 feet and in. Edey is a good prospect and has definitely been rising in draft boards. But if you want to see what GM’s are afraid of this film highlights it. He gets absolutely abused in pick and rolls and dribble handoffs. Something that NBA caliber players will take even more advantage of. #iubb

Baylor 6’5 Sophomore Cameron Carr has been one of the most impressive prospects in this years NBA Draft. Carr has been one of the biggest underclassmen standouts averaging 22/6/2 on 56/42/82 splits while also averaging 2 BPG. Standing at 6’5 with a 7’2 wingspan Carr has the frame to play multiple positions in the league, and there aren’t many elite athletes who are as efficient as Carr is from three and at the rim. Carr is shooting 70% at the rim and 42% both on extremely high usage. Carr has the ability to create off the dribble from the mid range or from three and is also an extremely talented off ball shooter who can shoot contested with efficiency. At the rim Carr uses his athleticism to be a lob threat, a cutter, and he also has the ability to create his own look at the rim. Charles Bassey is a professional scorer for sure - instant buckets inside the paint, especially as a roller. His defense is a whole other story. He can deter at the rim, but he's a pure drop-coverage guy and has very little ability to contest outside shots, esp 3-point shooters. He will literally just watch dudes shoot. To me, being able to guard outside the paint in today's NBA for a big is a basic necessity for any player who's going to be in rotation if you strive to be a great basketball team, and he doesn't cover it, which severely limits his potential as a defensive difference-maker. With Porzingis already being a cone more than half the time, we can expect Warriors defense to disappoint in the upcoming season if they're going to rely on Bassey to play a big role. Watch this short clip to see examples of what I saw from Bassey last season against a stretch player on the Clippers.

Joan Beringer is raw, he’s toolsy, and he might just be the most intriguing defensive prospect in the 2025 NBA Draft class. At 7’0” in shoes with a stupid 7’4.5” wingspan, Beringer swallows up space like a vacuum—fluid, long, and annoying to deal with on the perimeter. The scheme versatility is the sell—he can play up in a hedge, switch, or play in a drop. He likes to force ball-handlers into tough spots, getting in their shirt and shading them to a side, and his lateral movement is shockingly smooth for a guy this size (though his feet can get a little happy at times). Has real recovery tools, even when a defender gets a step on him. The offense is a little more basic right now. He’s strictly a rim-runner, screen-setting lob target, and garbage man—don’t ask him to stretch the floor and expect some pretty silly turnovers. BUT—and this is a massive but—he’s only been playing basketball for three years. The fact that he’s already this impactful defensively while being this raw is pretty exciting. The upside is undeniable, and it’s hard for me seeing him escape the lotto on draft night.
