It was a mistake to look away when SCOTUS allowed vehicle exemptions and mandatory license plates, which is wearing a unique ID around our necks wherever we go. Cops fucked around with Flock cameras and now we want our rights back. Sheriff Teeple is smart to take a step back.

It would be irresponsible not to equip my deputies with the best technology to help them do their jobs, but I will never allow technology to supersede your rights. I believe the latest camera networks powered by AI and machine learning are capable of violating our citizens' Fourth Amendment rights. We shouldn't wait for the Supreme Court to tell us something is a violation before we decide to protect the privacy of our citizens.
