Online shopping was the beginning of the end for small retail businesses. Add in looting, shoplifting and rising overhead costs and it became a death sentence.

So here is a quick history lesson for those unaware of Flint Michigan the auto industry collapsed in the 1970s up into the 2000s. In 1960 Flint had a population of 196,210 people by 1980 their population had dropped a 159,611 with a 19% tax rate by 2020 the population had dropped to 81, 252 with a tax base of 35%. it was the deindustrialization and awful leftist democratic politicians

Girl ain’t no malls in America booming anymore this ain’t the 90s , blame Amazon if anything. Brick and Mortar stores are slowly making a comeback but I don’t see malls ver coming back as strong as the were

How do mall jobs and stores go overseas?

Who thought selling books online would lead to the massacre of small business’s and workers back then. Stop buying Chinese junk on Amazon 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Ok moron. Love tariffs? You think tariffs will make the Flint mall prosper again? It’s over. Whistling past the graveyard. So rub some dirt on it, get up, and let’s figure out the neo-capitalism of the next century. Trump is a relic.

She is correct. The Rust Belt was part of American Greatness. Used to be named the steel belt or manufacturing belt. Ross Perot said this would happen to us and we did not listen. If elected he would have killed NAFTA.

bitch it's a mall, not a manufacturing plant... This is more about the rise of e-commerce and Amazon

Malls are dead across the country. Flint isn’t any different than other cities when it comes to malls.

Now tell her to go across the street and film the plaza that is full of stores recently opened within the last year. Courtland is dead because it’s owned by a person that could care less about it and is impossible to contact.

No offense, but that’s like most every mall in the country these days. I hate it too but it has nothing to do with tariff’s or MAGA or Democrats. Zero. Have you ever thought of doing a little research before you waste your time with the dramatic music and made-up facts? It took me ten seconds to ask Elon’s robot, Grok and find out this all started 15-20 years ago; “The primary cause of the downfall of shopping malls in the USA is the rise of online shopping, which has eroded foot traffic and led to anchor store closures, compounded by oversaturation from past construction booms, high operational costs, and changing consumer preferences for experiential retail and big-box stores, though some malls adapt by repurposing spaces.”

I'm not sure how else to explain this to you... But that mall is empty because of Trump and republican policy for the past decade and a half. 😂🤣🤫🤫

Profilbild von Jenn Day

No one goes to the mall anymore. It has nothing to do with overseas. People don't want the hassle to park then find the store inside the mall only to find they don't have what you need. They go online and order it to be sent to their house or curbside pickup.

The govt didn’t do that. Amazon did. People shop online now instead of going to the mall. That’s called capitalism. Going to the video store used to be cool too but that ain’t coming back either. Same for Drive-ins, roller rinks and malt shops. Time moves on.

Profilbild von Jason Ashworth

This is due to online commerce. Not the gov’t. Stop buying everything from Amazon and other online stores and those stores/jobs will come right back.

Cleveland,Detroit were also deserted by greedy capitalist corporations in the 70's.NAFTA gave the jobs to Mexico and Canada. Many lives and families were totally destroyed by their GREED for cheap labor/more profit.. Kids died from poverty, drugs and violence and no education.
