This makes me think of that famous tweet that was like “you could say you love waffles, but then somehow someone will assume you hate pancakes when that’s a completely different sentence”. Context clues and reading in between the lines is a lost art 😭

Oh my God, this is exactly why I hate comment sections, and why I hate going back-and-forth on the Internet with people. Those Devil’s advocate ass questions/ responses. I’ll be like I’m not talking about that!!!! I’m talking about THIS lol

Another fave is when ppl say “they didn’t SAY that!” despite it being heavily implied. Like, have y’all not worked out the author’s meaning or message of a text in elementary school? Tone? Any of it? Folks need things spelled out verbatim nowadays

It’s people nowadays people want things literally spelled out for them . Not just spelled out but detailed to the point where they don’t have to think for themselves AT ALL

That’s primarily because teachers don’t emphasize that context is VERY IMPORTANT instead, they say, “read until you feel excluded, then ask for interpretation”.. I’ll shut up 🤐

This tweet is gonna be my Glock for this gah damn app

Yeah she is right. Unfortunately, this concept has been weaponized by people who you know are writing about a specific thing yet hide behind the “that’s not what I wrote” knowing it was heavily inferred. So people have shifted to a say exactly what you mean mentality.

Where I'm from you can say something else and someone from an unhappy home will come and argue with you for not saying something else

perfect example
