They are prepared to do so because they believe the proscription of Palestine Action – the first such proscription in British history for a direct-action group following in the tradition of the Suffragettes – is an assault on our fundamental right to protest, and to protest against the criminality of our own institutions, in this case institutions actively supporting a genocide in Gaza. If Rowley does not believe he has the resources to arrest the 1,000-plus people who will be sitting quietly in Parliament Square today holding placards opposing the genocide, then he can simply let them be. How to untangle this nonsense? a) The only possible way to interpret Rowley’s argument is that he believes every British Jew identifies and supports Israel’s mass slaughter of children in Gaza and therefore, out of respect for their grief at the Manchester attack, we ought not to protest against the slaughter in Gaza. That undoubtedly makes Rowley the antisemitic one. b) Even were his deeply antisemitic idea true – that British Jews are an unthinking herd of genocidal monsters – Rowley assumes that we ought to be okay with this: we should just keep quiet about Israel murdering 100 or so Palestinians every day in Gaza, and starving and ethnically cleansing the rest of the population, because it would supposedly offend Britain’s Jewish community to do otherwise. c) Rowley wants the protesters to take a time-out of a few weeks, even while Israel refuses to take any time-out on murdering Palestinians. I'm warning you now. This is a hard listen. The police weren't the rescue. Survivors say they were the PREDATORS. The HUNTERS. The ones these children needed saving from. So who protects you when the people with the BADGE are the ones in the room? S A M M Y Woodhouse describes what some of them called cop nights. Officers taking TURNS with the children, she says. Then handing them back to the gangs like nothing happened. A reward for looking the other way. Watch her say it. Watch the interviewer go silent, because even he couldn't take in what he was hearing. And it wasn't one bad officer. Now listen to what survivors have told the BBC. One says she was raped from the age of 12 in a marked police car, by a uniformed officer, who told her he'd hand her straight back to the gang if she didn't comply. She said being raped once by a copper was easier than being raped by 15 or 20 men in a night and he knew it. She named him, she says. He was never arrested. He died on restricted duties before anyone laid a hand on him. Another, abused by hundreds of men over five years from the age of 11, says she was hunted down by an officer who knew where she'd be, who demanded sex or raped her in the back of the car, and threatened to call the gang himself if she refused. One survivor says she was forced into an illegal abortion, the officer who abused her then sat across from her and conducted her police interview. The uniform she was taught her whole life meant safety. For her, it was the trap. Now look at how high it goes. The watchdog upheld a complaint that the force gave the gang's ringleader a NO ARREST deal, after he abducted a pregnant 14 year old girl. The court heard that some officers passed him drugs. Passed him information. The very people meant to catch him. Then look at what they did with their own. Eight years. Ninety one investigations. The watchdog found the force fundamentally failed to protect these children. Forty three complaints upheld. Gross misconduct found. Not one officer lost their job. Not one was charged. Seven were quietly allowed to retire before they could even face a hearing. A former investigator called it, at best a reputational cover up, at worst outright corruption. The same force is investigating its own former officers. Marking its own homework. The woman who led the original inquiry says she's shocked they're allowed to. This is the bit that gets me. That eight year investigation, the one that was meant to find all this, never uncovered the alleged police rapes at all. It took the survivors own lawyers, years later, dragging it out case by case, to force it into the light. The official inquiry looked straight at it and missed it. So what you've just read is only what slipped out. Only what they couldn't bury. Because how does a child report the police, to the police? The ones we know about are the ones who got out and were finally believed. For every one of them, there are the ones who never could say a word. Because the people they were meant to run to were the ones some of them needed saving from. They had one job. Protect the children and the ones who did this put on the uniform and did the opposite. BEFORE YOU BOARD YOUR NEXT FLIGHT READ THIS A former airline captain named John Hoyte reached out to me recently. He spent nearly 30 years flying commercial aircraft, developed serious neurological damage, lost his career, and has been trying to get this story properly investigated ever since. He sent me documents spanning two decades. The scale of what is in them is HUGE. What he shared includes parliamentary records, a 320-page published report from the British pilots union, BBC coverage, House of Lords testimony, and active litigation in multiple countries. This has been heard at the highest levels. It has largely been buried. Most commercial jet aircraft use a system called bleed air. Instead of drawing fresh air from outside, the plane takes compressed air directly from the engines and pumps it into the cabin. That is the air you breathe for the entire flight. When engine seals wear down, oil and hydraulic fluid can leak into that air supply. Those fluids contain organophosphates, the same compounds found in certain pesticides and nerve agents. Inhaling them can cause neurological damage, memory loss, and chronic fatigue. In documented cases, far worse. This design has been in use since the 1950s. The health risk has been documented for just as long. In 2005, BALPA, the British pilots union, published a full conference report on this with the University of New South Wales. The following year, 27 BALPA pilots were tested by University College London. All 27 showed evidence of toxic poisoning and reduced cognitive function. Not some of them. All of them. BBCPanorama covered it in 2008. The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee heard evidence on it in 2007 and 2008. In February 2007, 40 unrelated passengers on a single XL Airways flight were seriously injured by contaminated cabin air. Their cases went to court. Twenty of them won a US jurisdiction ruling in 2010. A UK coroner recorded a death linked to this in 2015. France has formally recognised aerotoxic syndrome as an occupational disease. In the US, a law professor is suing Boeing for $40 million after a single exposure left him permanently injured. Morgan & Morgan, America's largest personal injury firm, is now actively taking mass cases on behalf of passengers and crew. John himself was one of those 27 pilots tested by UCL. He founded the Aerotoxic Association in 2007 at the Houses of Parliament to support other survivors. He has been fighting for this for nearly 20 years. Almost every commercial jet aircraft except the Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses the bleed air system. The 787 uses a different design that avoids this problem entirely. That safer design has existed for years. That fact alone says everything. BBC has not covered this story since 2020. The UK Civil Aviation Authority continues to say there is no positive evidence of a link. The Aerotoxic Association has been contacted by more than 2,500 people who believe they have been affected. Donald Trump Is Not Your Friend Virulent Iran hawk Brian Hook has reportedly been chosen by Donald Trump to help staff the State Department of the incoming administration, just in case you were still holding out hope that this time might be different and Trump really would end the wars and fight the deep state. Readers might remember Hook as the swamp creature who in 2017 was seen in a leaked State Department memo lecturing Rex Tillerson on the US government’s policy of using human rights as a cynical tool to undermine enemies and reinforce alliances. This is done, Hook explained, by ignoring human rights abuses when they are perpetrated by US allies while emphasizing them at every opportunity in the nations of enemy governments in order to “impose costs, apply counter-pressure, and regain the initiative from them strategically.” “The ‘realist’ view is that America’s allies should be supported rather than badgered, for both practical and principled reasons, and that while the United States should certainly stand as moral example, our diplomacy with other countries should focus primarily on their foreign policy behavior rather than on their domestic practices as such,” Hook wrote in the memo, saying that “In the case of US allies such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines, the Administration is fully justified in emphasizing good relations for a variety of important reasons, including counter-terrorism, and in honestly facing up to the difficult tradeoffs with regard to human rights.” “One useful guideline for a realistic and successful foreign policy is that allies should be treated differently — and better — than adversaries,” Hook wrote. “We do not look to bolster America’s adversaries overseas; we look to pressure, compete with, and outmaneuver them. I’m already getting people telling me to “give Trump a chance” and stop criticizing him before he’s in office when I point out developments like this. Give Trump a chance? He had four years. He was the president for four fucking years. Trump showed us who he is: a murderous warmongering empire lackey just like his predecessors. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. There’s no reason to think this time will be different. Trump criticizes foreign interventionism because that kind of rhetoric is popular, not because he actually means it. In order to get to where he’s at Trump cut deals with Zionist oligarchs, powerful lobby groups, and more or less the exact same Republican voting base and donor class that’s given rise to every other disgusting Republican president in recent years. Even if he wanted to end wars and fight the establishment (and there is no evidence that he does), he’s already tied his own hands with the deals he’s made with the powerful establishment factions he’s promised his service to. Trump supporters are George W Bush supporters LARPing as Ron Paul supporters. They act like they’re backing some anti-war figure who’s taking a meaningful stand against the machine, when they’re really backing a guy who spent four years rolling out longstanding neocon agendas. That’s what makes them so annoying. At least liberals are more or less honest about wanting to preserve the status quo; Trumpers want you to take seriously their belief that they participated in some huge revolutionary act by ticking a box for the Republican on election day. They correctly believe that their country is controlled by an unelected deep state (though they are very confused about who that actually is), but they incorrectly believe this unelected power structure can be defeated by voting for one of the two mainstream candidates presented to them at the ballot box. For four fucking years these morons were in my mentions telling me every action of Trump’s that I criticized was actually a brilliant 47-dimensional chess maneuver against the deep state, even when he was openly advancing some longstanding agenda of the CIA and neoconservative swamp monsters like ramping up aggressions against Iran or staging a coup in Venezuela. Donald Trump Is Not Your Friend Virulent Iran hawk Brian Hook has reportedly been chosen by Donald Trump to help staff the State Department of the incoming administration, just in case you were still holding out hope that this time might be different and Trump really would end the wars and fight the deep state. Readers might remember Hook as the swamp creature who in 2017 was seen in a leaked State Department memo lecturing Rex Tillerson on the US government’s policy of using human rights as a cynical tool to undermine enemies and reinforce alliances. This is done, Hook explained, by ignoring human rights abuses when they are perpetrated by US allies while emphasizing them at every opportunity in the nations of enemy governments in order to “impose costs, apply counter-pressure, and regain the initiative from them strategically.” “The ‘realist’ view is that America’s allies should be supported rather than badgered, for both practical and principled reasons, and that while the United States should certainly stand as moral example, our diplomacy with other countries should focus primarily on their foreign policy behavior rather than on their domestic practices as such,” Hook wrote in the memo, saying that “In the case of US allies such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines, the Administration is fully justified in emphasizing good relations for a variety of important reasons, including counter-terrorism, and in honestly facing up to the difficult tradeoffs with regard to human rights.” “One useful guideline for a realistic and successful foreign policy is that allies should be treated differently — and better — than adversaries,” Hook wrote. “We do not look to bolster America’s adversaries overseas; we look to pressure, compete with, and outmaneuver them. For this reason, we should consider human rights as an important issue in regard to US relations with China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. And this is not only because of moral concern for practices inside those countries. It is also because pressing those regimes on human rights is one way to impose costs, apply counter-pressure, and regain the initiative from them strategically.” Hook’s words, shared in confidentiality with the political neophyte Tillerson, were an excellent window into what western empire managers are doing when they feign outrage at alleged human rights abuses in nations they’ve targeted for destruction. The fact that his would be one of the first names chosen by Trump suggests we can expect more despicable foreign policy recklessness from the returning president. I’m already getting people telling me to “give Trump a chance” and stop criticizing him before he’s in office when I point out developments like this. Give Trump a chance? He had four years. He was the president for four fucking years. Trump showed us who he is: a murderous warmongering empire lackey just like his predecessors. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. There’s no reason to think this time will be different. Trump criticizes foreign interventionism because that kind of rhetoric is popular, not because he actually means it. In order to get to where he’s at Trump cut deals with Zionist oligarchs, powerful lobby groups, and more or less the exact same Republican voting base and donor class that’s given rise to every other disgusting Republican president in recent years. Even if he wanted to end wars and fight the establishment (and there is no evidence that he does), he’s already tied his own hands with the deals he’s made with the powerful establishment factions he’s promised his service to. Trump supporters are George W Bush supporters LARPing as Ron Paul supporters. They act like they’re backing some anti-war figure who’s taking a meaningful stand against the machine, when they’re really backing a guy who spent four years rolling out longstanding neocon agendas. That’s what makes them so annoying. At least liberals are more or less honest about wanting to preserve the status quo; Trumpers want you to take seriously their belief that they participated in some huge revolutionary act by ticking a box for the Republican on election day. They correctly believe that their country is controlled by an unelected deep state (though they are very confused about who that actually is), but they incorrectly believe this unelected power structure can be defeated by voting for one of the two mainstream candidates presented to them at the ballot box. Like that would ever be an option. I am really not looking forward to another four years of that shit, I’ll be honest. For four fucking years these morons were in my mentions telling me every action of Trump’s that I criticized was actually a brilliant 47-dimensional chess maneuver against the deep state, even when he was openly advancing some longstanding agenda of the CIA and neoconservative swamp monsters like ramping up aggressions against Iran or staging a coup in Venezuela. The tariffs aren’t coming today. Thank Premier Smith for being in DC this wknd actively making the case for avoiding a tariff war by sitting down with the Presidents closest advisors. You can see her at galas and at the embassy. My friend Andrew Coyne thinks this is appeasement. I think it’s committed diplomacy. She’s making a clear case, not selling out. And where are the feds? Who are they meeting with? I’m at the Inauguration with some friends who will serve in the new Administration. I’ve been at some receptions and galas a conversations about Canada and tariffs always come up. Yesterday morning the Trump team delayed tariffs and made it clear again: they are about getting Mexico and Canada to solve for border security. In private people say Mexico is preparing a clinical response to the border/drug issues and Canada is MIA except for Premier Smith talking about energy security. Here’s what else I’m hearing: 1. Virtually no one in D.C. could tell you who or what the federal Canadian is doing to fix the broken border and the security, military, trade and the NATO freeloading issues that are the basis of the original tariff threat. The state dept guy said we are notorious for our security problems now and tolerance was fading. 2. Premier Smith is making friends and influencing people. She is focused on direct conversations with the Presidents closest advisors who will decide energy and foreign trade policy including Bergum, Rubio and Wright. Canadian Fed naysayers meanwhile aren’t here, preferring to talk tough on CBC while she’s taking open interviews on Fox and defending Canada directly with Cabinet members. 3. Canada’s leadership vacuum is obvious. No one here understands how a PM can resign & suspend a democracy for three months so his party can have a leadership race. 4. The American priority is security: economic, border, Arctic and NATO. Anyone in Cdn politics who wants to talk tough needs to explain how we will actually fix our broken borders and weak national security. - CTV/CBC, needs to ask every idiot repeating that ‘everything is on the table’ ask them how they will convince the US we are fixing the broken border & our reckless asylum, visa and immigration fraud that invited our growing extremism and criminal and terror syndicate activity to explode. How will the Feds guarantee the Americans they won’t interdict another 1000 watchlist terrorists (90pc+ of all US terror interdictions) in the next few years? I’d love to hear what Joly would say to the state dept guys I just had brunch with. Because their critique of our national security posture is devastating which is why the Americans are intrigued to know how we will fix our immigration/asylum/terror/crime/security/law enforcement issues. 5. While the feds have no coherent messsages or presence on the core security issue Premier Smith is actively addressing energy security with an all-Canada argument: - that our energy is key to US energy security - that they get it today as a discounted input to thousands of jobs and hundreds of billions in U.S. value-added refined and traded goods - when the energy trade is deducted from all other sectors, the Americans actually enjoy a trade surplus with Canada of over $50 billion. Great argument and if you check the video below she makes it clear. So here’s a question for the feds: She’s actively meeting and explaining energy economics to defend against tariffs on all Canadian goods. So what exactly are you doing? The tariff threat isn’t gone just delayed to see progress on the border. Maybe it’s time to get to DC and start talking to US media and the White House instead of trying to take cheap shots on CBC? For the last decade, the media has called the idea that America is ruled by a secret government of deep state intelligence agencies like the CIA and FBI a "right-wing conspiracy theory." Journalists at outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and NPR have portrayed claims about a “deep state” as paranoid fabrications pushed by Donald Trump and his supporters to discredit legitimate government institutions. They insisted that accusations of political bias or covert influence by agencies like the CIA or FBI had no basis in fact and served only to inflame public distrust. And yet over the same period, investigative reporting, including by the two of us, and official disclosures revealed that these agencies interfered in domestic politics in ways that aligned with that very narrative. The FBI launched a surveillance operation against the Trump campaign based on unverified opposition research. Dozens of former intelligence officials falsely claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story bore the “classic earmarks” of Russian disinformation, just weeks before the 2020 election. The Department of Homeland Security, along with the FBI and other agencies, coordinated with social media platforms to suppress speech under the banner of combating “misinformation.” These actions, taken together, suggest not a shadowy cabal, but a real and expanding infrastructure of state-aligned influence aimed at shaping public perception and countering populist dissent, just as the so-called conspiracy theorists claimed. The strongest argument against the existence of a secret government run by the deep state was the re-election of Donald Trump in 2024. If agencies like the CIA, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security truly exercised covert and unchecked control over American politics, it is difficult to explain how their most outspoken critic, and avowed enemy, returned to power. Trump did not merely criticize the intelligence community; he ran on a platform promising its reform. He vowed to purge partisan operatives, dismantle what he called politically weaponized agencies, and hold officials accountable for a pattern of lawless interference. And despite his direct confrontation with the national security establishment, Trump defeated Kamala Harris decisively, winning 312 electoral votes and a narrow popular vote majority. But now the Trump administration is attempting to sweep the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal under the rug, with the Justice Department claiming that there is no client list and that no further disclosure is warranted, even though Attorney General Pam Bondi explicitly stated publicly that there were “tens of thousands of videos” which means the ability to identify the individuals involved in sex with minors, and that anyone in the Epstein files who tries to keep their name private has “no legal basis to do so.” On April 28, 2025, in a candid off-the-record exchange caught on video, Bondi told a bystander, “There are tens of thousands of videos… and it’s all with little kids.” She later reiterated on May 7 that these were “videos of Epstein with children or child porn.” Bondi’s comments directly contradicted the official stance of the administration, which has dismissed calls for a client list and slowed efforts to release the full contents of the Epstein files. Despite Trump’s campaign promises to dismantle the deep state and hold elites accountable, his administration now appears to be protecting the same intelligence and law enforcement networks it once condemned. Strong evidence suggests that Epstein was part of a sex blackmail operation tied to intelligence agencies. Visitor logs show that William Burns, who served as CIA Director under President Biden, visited Epstein’s New York townhouse multiple times. The Wall Street Journal reported those visits in 2023 based on Epstein’s private calendar. In 2017, Alex Acosta, the Justice Department official who gave Epstein his 2008 plea deal, told Trump transition officials that he was told to back off Epstein because he “belonged to intelligence.” The Justice Department later admitted that all eleven months of Acosta’s emails from that period had disappeared. This failure to follow through seriously undermines Trump’s explicit commitments to reform and shine light on the deep state. This is not just about Epstein. The Trump administration has not been particularly transparent about much else. The CIA, to its credit, released an internal evaluation last week admitting it had erred in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment by claiming that Russia “aspired to” help elect Trump. But it stood by the overall assessment, signaling the agency’s reluctance to admit fault, its continued defensiveness in the face of mounting evidence, and its impunity. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has disclosed a limited amount of information about intelligence community abuses during the pandemic, including the targeting of COVID vaccine dissenters as potential violent extremists. But beyond that, the Trump administration has released very little, even on issues where transparency would appear to be in its political interest. The administration has kept classified large volumes of material related to COVID origins, the FBI’s role in Russiagate, the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story, and unidentified anomalous phenomena. It is thus hard not to conclude that the intelligence community continues to operate in violation of the constitutional system of checks and balances by evading meaningful congressional oversight. And despite his direct confrontation with the national security establishment, Trump defeated Kamala Harris decisively, winning 312 electoral votes and a narrow popular vote majority. But now the Trump administration is attempting to sweep the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal under the rug, with the Justice Department claiming that there is no client list and that no further disclosure is warranted, even though Attorney General Pam Bondi explicitly stated publicly that there were “tens of thousands of videos” which means the ability to identify the individuals involved in sex with minors, and that anyone in the Epstein files who tries to keep their name private has “no legal basis to do so.” On April 28, 2025, in a candid off-the-record exchange caught on video, Bondi told a bystander, “There are tens of thousands of videos… and it’s all with little kids.” She later reiterated on May 7 that these were “videos of Epstein with children or child porn.” Bondi’s comments directly contradicted the official stance of the administration, which has dismissed calls for a client list and slowed efforts to release the full contents of the Epstein files. Despite Trump’s campaign promises to dismantle the deep state and hold elites accountable, his administration now appears to be protecting the same intelligence and law enforcement networks it once condemned.
