100% and Australia has been doing it long before Qatar even knew it had gas, also Australia has coal, bauxite, gold, uranium, Iron ore, wheat, barley, wool for decades when it was popular, Dairy, lamb and cattle exports, and still pay taxes and ppl living on the streets.

If our government made 50 times what they do now they will still tax us. government revenue is not going to improve your life

to be fair, the Australian constitution holds that States hold the power to mine or sell rights to the mineral resources in their borders. the federal government has no power to tax or directly generate income from what is constitutionally...state property.

WOW!! I did not know this. When Kevin Rudd tried to introduce a 40% mining tax, they got gillard to stab him in the back, and spent Millions on ads to convince the Australian public somehow this money going to the people would be bad for them.
