Just ten years ago, it was announced that the women of India would no longer have to rely on dangerous and harmful methods of cooking, and promised 12 cylinders for every beneficiary of the Ujjwala programme. 90000kgs of rotten chicken waste being illegally transported and diverted into fish feed. H-FAST crackdown: • Simultaneous raids were conducted at Amberpet, Kulsumapura, Attapur and Rajendranagar. • 7 transport vehicles were seized. • Around 90 tonnes of raw chicken waste was recovered. • The waste was allegedly being transported illegally without valid licences. • Investigation found that the poultry waste collected from chicken shops across Hyderabad was being diverted for use as fish feed in aquaculture ponds. • Instead of scientific disposal at authorised rendering facilities, the waste was being illegally rerouted. • Cases have been registered against the accused. • The entire seized quantity was disposed of safely as per GHMC veterinary protocols.

We are very concerned about the conditions affecting the well-being of our fishermen. They are very much living below the poverty line. In many cases, they are suffering serious problems.
