What was initially believed to be a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala has now been revealed as an alleged murder plot. Pune Rural Police have arrested Siya Goel, the fiancée of deceased Ketan Agarwal, and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary after an investigation found that the two had allegedly conspired to kill the 26-year-old businessman. According to police, Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a valley at Lohagad Fort on June 16, 2026. An accidental death case (AD No. 36/2026) was initially registered by the Lonavala Rural Police under Section 194 of the BNSS after Siya Goel informed Ketan’s family that he had slipped from the fort's edge during a trek. Police and family members rushed to the spot, and Ketan’s body was later recovered from the valley before being handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination. However, statements from Ketan’s family and friends raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death. During the investigation, police uncovered information suggesting that Siya Goel was allegedly in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, who worked in the Market Yard area of Pune, where Siya’s family also operated a business. Police then examined CCTV footage, mobile phone records, technical evidence, and intelligence inputs. Investigators discovered that Chetan Chaudhary was present at Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident despite initial claims indicating that only Ketan and Siya had gone trekking. According to police, further interrogation revealed that the accused had allegedly planned the murder in advance. Investigators claim that after Ketan and Siya reached the fort, Chetan followed them to the top. At a secluded spot near the fort’s edge, Siya and Chetan allegedly pushed Ketan into the valley, causing fatal injuries. Police officials stated that both accused later admitted to their involvement during questioning. Based on the evidence collected, the accidental death inquiry was converted into a murder investigation, leading to the arrest of both suspects. The case has shocked Pune and Lonavala residents, with what appeared to be an unfortunate trekking mishap now emerging as a chilling case of betrayal, conspiracy, and murder.

Fiancée and Her Lover Arrested for Murdering #Pune Real Estate Director by Pushing Him Off Lohagad Fort In a big twist in the death of real estate firm director Ketan Vishal Agrawal, police on Tuesday arrested his fiancée and her lover for allegedly pushing him into a deep gorge off Lohagad Fort in Pune and passing it off as an accident, officials said. While the incident, which occurred on June 18, was initially believed to be a case of an accidental fall at the historic Lohagad Fort, the investigation pointed to a murder conspiracy, they said. Agarwal (26), a resident of Gahunje in Pune district and director of a family-run real estate business, was found dead in a gorge near the fort on June 18. The police had then said Agarwal fell nearly 400 feet into the gorge while taking photographs during a trek with his fiancée and friends amid strong winds at the fort. An accidental death report was registered after his fiancée, Siya Goyal, told the #Lonavala rural police that Agarwal had slipped and fallen while the couple was on an outing at the hill fort. Agarwal was scheduled to marry Goyal later this year. It was learned that the families had made elaborate wedding preparations, including booking a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan, for the ceremony. Superintendent of Police, Pune rural, Sandip Singh Gill, said the circumstances surrounding the death appeared suspicious, which prompted police to investigate the case thoroughly. "Our teams examined multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal relationships. During the probe, police allegedly found that Goyal was in a relationship with another man, identified as Chetan Babulal Chaudhary (22), a resident of Kondhwa in Pune," he said. The investigation showed that Goyal was unwilling to marry Agarwal and considered him an obstacle to her relationship with Chaudhary, the official said. The two allegedly conspired to eliminate Agarwal. As part of the plan, Goyal took him to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing, while Chaudhary was called to the spot later. The duo then allegedly pushed Agarwal off the fort, leading to his death, police said. Based on suspicion, the local crime branch took Chaudhary into custody. During interrogation, it emerged that since Agarwal was becoming an obstacle in Chaudhary's relationship with Goyal, both of them plotted to eliminate her fiancé. Goyal was also arrested based on Chaudhary's interrogation, the police said. "Following a complaint lodged by Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, the Lonavala rural police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Tuesday," Gill said. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events, collect forensic evidence and determine if other persons were involved in the alleged conspiracy, police officials said. Lohagad fort is linked to the history of Maratha empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is one of the 12 forts in Maharashtra listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fresh details have emerged in the sensational Lohagad Fort murder case, with investigators claiming that the alleged conspiracy to kill 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal was finalised at a café in Pune’s Kondhwa area just a day before the incident. According to the police, accused Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, met at the café on the evening of June 17 and meticulously planned the murder. Investigators believe the duo discussed every aspect of the plot, including the use of code words, identifying vulnerable spots at Lohagad Fort from where Agarwal could allegedly be pushed into a gorge, and coordinating their movements during the trek. The latest revelations come as police continue to examine CCTV footage and other evidence gathered during the investigation. Speaking on the case, Dinesh Tayde, Senior Police Inspector, said the incident was initially registered as an accidental death after Agarwal fell from a height at Lohagad Fort on June 18. “Initially, when this incident occurred on June 18, it was registered as an accidental death. However, when we conducted a detailed investigation, we found that the accused had premeditated the murder. Accordingly, we registered an offence and arrested both accused," Tayde said. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested and later produced before a court, which granted police custody until June 29. The officer further revealed that CCTV footage played a crucial role in uncovering the alleged conspiracy. According to investigators, Chaudhary attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a hoodie and covering his face while ensuring he did not look directly at surveillance cameras. “The second accused in the CCTV, Chetan Chaudhary, was trying his best to conceal his identity. He was wearing a hoodie, covering his entire face and was not looking at the camera even once," Tayde said. Police also claim that the accused used pre-arranged signals to communicate during the trek. “Apart from this, something else has also come to light. They were giving signals to each other as to when to stop and when to walk," the officer said. According to Tayde, both accused initially acknowledged certain aspects of the investigation during questioning, though police have not disclosed further details. Investigators are continuing to probe the sequence of events leading up to Agarwal’s death and the alleged planning behind the crime. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the chilling nature of the allegations and the emerging details surrounding the alleged conspiracy.
