This post is embarrassing and desperate at best The sovereignty talks were opened by YOU the @Conservatives in 2022 after @trussliz meeting with the Mauritian PM at UNGA. @JamesCleverly announced them, @RishiSunak continued them. @UKLabour finished the deal. @Nigel_Farage was clearly talking about locking in perpetual US use of Diego Garcia, not handing over the whole archipelago (as Reform and the White House both confirmed). Guaranteeing the Americans the base in perpetuity is still preferable to ceding the islands to a China-aligned Mauritius that has long treated the Chagossians poorly. #chagos
