Polish police have arrested a taxi passenger who attacked a Ukrainian Uber driver over national animosity. The incident happened on September 8 in Gdansk. The taxi was hailed by two tipsy men. After the driver told one of the passengers that he was not allowed to get into the car with an open bottle of beer, he began to insult him, including about his nationality. The Ukrainian student, who works part-time as a taxi driver, tried to ignore the insults of the drunk passenger. When they were halfway there, the passenger attacked the driver for no reason, punching him in the face. The taxi driver used pepper spray against the offenders. The police found the hooligans quickly. They face criminal charges.

I have been working as a Rapido rider since the COVID period. I try to earn Rs 1,000 daily, but I am usually unable to reach my target because many customers cancel the ride after seeing my disability. I aim to complete 50 to 60 rides a day, but I am only able to get around 10 to 15, and sometimes even just 5. People ask me why I ride for Rapido. It is because I have to earn a living and make my daily bread. I ride my Activa 125, which was gifted to me by my brother, and use it to take rides all across Hyderabad." On his interaction with customers, he says, "Every day, 4 to 5 people cancel my ride, but I can't do anything about it. Many customers hesitate, but I assure them of their safety. Many people take one look at my vehicle and cancel. Some don't cancel because they might get charged a cancellation fee, forcing me to cancel instead, which costs me a Rs 10 penalty per cancellation. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, has ordered an investigation into an incident in KwaNdengezi, west of Durban, where an e-hailing driver was attacked by armed security guards while transporting female passengers. According to the MEC, security guards allegedly linked to the KwaNdengezi Taxi Association harassed and intimidated the passengers, ordered the driver to drop them off, and allegedly fired shots at the vehicle’s tyres. The driver reportedly lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle. Duma condemned the incident and said investigators from the Public Regulatory Entity and Operation Shanela, together with SAPS and Metro Police, have been tasked with probing the matter. He also called on the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) to investigate the conduct of the armed security guards for possible violations of the law. The MEC said decisive action would be taken against those responsible and reaffirmed the province’s commitment to maintaining stability in the public transport sector.

Andre and Carla should have made it SAFELY to their destination, but instead their lives were taken because their Lyft driver, and the company by extension, failed to keep them safe! The driver of a police car told that child to move the car forward, even though the child had never driven a car before. Later, when the car came inside the house premises, that police driver sat in the car and tried to run away. Then I went there and took the car keys out. The police officers did not take any action. Instead, they were telling us, “If you have too much problem, then file an FIR.” They were behaving rudely with us. We did not file an FIR because my father refused, saying there was no point in getting into trouble with them, as they might falsely implicate us instead. #driveresponsibly
